When I got pregnant, I knew that I wanted to try and nurse my baby because of the health benefits. I worked in a maternity store for several years and had heard the ups and downs from many new moms. While pregnant, I read as much material I could so that I could be prepared. Luckily my daughter latched on perfectly and we didn't have any problems, and I am thankful for that. My only problem was keeping her awake long enough to nurse at first, although that changed rather quickly, lol. Even after developing mastitis, I am still a firm believer in breastfeeding. I am still nursing, but working on weaning her, and that is proving to be a huge challenge.

Nursing is such a wonderful experience for mommy and baby, and of course, everyone knows, a very healthy thing. I didn't plan on going back to work, so we were a little under financially, so this was a natural choice for that very reason, if not for anything else. The money saved was tremendous. There are so many products on the market dedicated to nursing that it just makes it easier than it used to be. The gel packs and creams that are available really help with soreness, and there are wonderful products out to help conceal yourself while feeding, and a great variety or clothing. Today more places are open to nursing mothers. Many malls have nursing lounges, stores, such as Motherhood Maternity, allow you to use their fitting rooms, and people are just more open to it. I, personally, choose to use the lounges and rooms, but when I can't, I make sure to cover up. It is a beautiful and natural thing, but that doesn't mean that I want to see it actually happen. I try to be respectful when out in public, and I hope that people will be respectful of me. My husband wanted to be able to feed our daughter, and to be honest, I needed a break now and then, so I purchased a pump and he was able to bottle feed her for a while, until my pump broke. This allowed him the bonding time as well and gave me a little independence from being the sole feeder.

Breastfeeding is a personal choice, and not the best choice for all parents, and that is ok. I don't think anyone should be chastised or feel bad for whichever choice they make. Some women can't nurse, due to latching problems, being able to supply milk, or many other reasons, and some just can't due to work, etc. And some women just don't want to. Any reason not to nurse is ok, just as it is if you chose to nurse. Formula's are pretty great nowadays, just expensive. So, whichever choice you make, make the best of it and enjoy it!!!

I was a breast fed baby as were all my siblings and look how I turned out.....ok maybe that's not a good example....lol Seriously I think it is the healthy choice, but it is her choice. I do applaud the stores, shops that provide a nursing Mother privacy. ;) Ron p.s. I am really enjoying your reviews!

I think it's great when moms can breastfeed. I'm busty as heck but must have been near about dry. My baby looked about starved until I got some formula. I did give it 6 weeks, but it was a bust (pun intended). When it works out, it sounds great. When it doesn't, it's hard. But the kid-o turned out fine. I'd hope it would be good for anyone doing it, but I understand those who are challenged.
