Braun Universal Gold

When I first seen the Braun Universal Gold Screen Coffee Filter I thought it looked pretty cool and unique. While this product does work pretty well and filters the coffee the downside is that it's not at all easy to clean. It's a hassle, for me at least, but still worth the money.

Theses are fantastic!!

These cones are just great.  Not only do they clean up easily, but there is no more chance of a mess from one tearing like there is with paper filters.  They are economical as they last for years.  I've had two that I use on a daily basis for over 5 years now.  They paid for themselves around age 6 months.  They work for loose tea leaves as well as coffee.  I'd never think of going back to paper filters.

A great way to keep it green, but harder to clean

OK- this filter came with my Braun coffee pot, but I would say that should it ever fail (short of being destroyed by my children I don't see how) I would definitely order another one in a heartbeat. We use this daily in our home to make coffee in the morning. I chuck yesterday's grinds into the compost pile, tap the filter against the edge of the bin, and dump out the few remaining crumbles. Then I rinse it outside, then inside under the faucet in the kitchen and voila- it's ready to go again. Once a week I throw it int he top rack of the dishwasher with the full wash ans heat cycle and then rinse it off (just in case) and pop it back into the coffee maker. I have never had an issue with fine or rough grind coffees, and occasionally I throw in tea instead. The filter has never blocked up on the unit, nor has it allowed grinds to get into the coffee. The fine mesh holds together tight and I can't find any movement or bends int he screening. Highly recommended to people who are able to use this in their coffee makers. Save the trees!

Braun Gold Coffee Filter makes sense!

5

I am delighted to give my opinion about the Braun Gold Coffee Filter.  This is a product that makes sense at a number of levels.  One aspect that I appreciate about this great product is the ecologial effect.  In stead of using disposable coffee filers every day, sometimes more than once, you can use this product.  I appreciate that this helps save the earth and also really helps me save my precious budget.  Why buy something over and over again when you can invest one time only?  I think it's very convenient too....never running out of coffee filters on those cold mornings when you really need coffee is a huge selling point to me also.  I have found that it rinses out very easily and have noticed that my  coffee really tastes just as good, it not better, than using those pesky paper filters.  I do think that Braun could work on the price a little bit so more people would feel they could make that first investment in it.

Makes great tasting coffee!

I have been using a Braun Gold Screen Coffee Filter for about a year now. I was tired of poorly fitting disposable paper filters. I also didn't like the oxidised flavor of the coffee. When I ran out of paper filters, I decided to give a gold filter a try. This filter fits well into both of my standard size coffee machines, actually snugger than the paper filters. It's easy to insert and has a little handle to help pull it out. It's easy to use and makes great coffee. The coffee tastes stronger and cleaner, closer to pressed coffee than drip machine coffee. It's also relatively easy to clean. The grounds are shaken into the trash and the filter is rinsed and wiped clean. I hand-wash it when the coffee oils build up, and even those are easy to clean off. The Braun filter is a very high quality mesh and, while not as cheap per unit as paper, is more  economical in the long run. It's a great investment and is more environmentally sound than paper.

Makes your coffee taste great!

I love this filter! Unlike a lot of people I Just use it in addition to a regular  coffee filter. On a chemical level the metal in the filter takes out some of the impurities in the coffee. In other words, it takes out that tangy sting that bland coffee sometimes has. I can definitly tell the difference when I don't use it. I would definitly suggest investing in one and see for yourself. You could use it by itself. It is less messy because you just remove the filter by its small handle and dump it out in your trash or compost. Unless you're picky about coffee stains all you need to do is give it a quick rinse. In the long run it does save you money as well as trees. Every 3-6 or so I like to replace it because aga, I prefer to use it to get my coffee to taste great. I use it in my Cuisinart coffee marker. I have the DCC-1100 12-cup programable coffeemaker. It really makes the coffee taste fresh and clean.

Go Green with Braun's Gold Screen coffee Filter!

The Braun Universal Gold Screen Coffee Filter is a great reusable cone style coffee filter.  It's great, you use it just like a paper filter only when you're done you just dump out the coffee grounds and give it a quick rinse.  These things last forever!Ok, the down side for me is that my Bunn coffee maker uses the basket filters.  When the electricity goes out we use the Malita with this filter and it makes wonderful coffee.  I like the fact that we will never have to replace it.  Go Green with Gold! Two thumbs up!!

I was not convinced at first but ...

In a burst of enthusiasm and desire to do a little extra something for the environment (and save money as well) I ordered a *Braun Universal Gold Screen Coffee Filter* from Gevalia shortly after I signed up for their automatic shipment program.  Upon opening it, I was impressed but thought that it would be difficult to clean.  (I still wash dishes the old-fashioned way and I'll admit it, I'm not what you would call a Domestic Diva.)  So the environment had to suffer a little longer as I cheated and went on using paper filters. I've got to admit though that the *Braun Universal Gold Screen Coffee Filter* has worked out well and is not difficult to clean after all once you get the "knack" of it.  (**Secret:  After emptying most of the grounds out into the garbage or disposal, rinse filter in an upside-down position -- pointed tip up -- with hot water.**)  The *Braun Universal Gold Screen Coffee Filter's* reusability ended up being a bargain for both me and the environment and I was finally able to stop ordering paper filters with my shipments from Gevalia.

A good investment

I've had my Braun cofee maker for about 5 years and I love it. The gold screen filter is great.  In the long run, you end up saving money by not buying the throw away filters. I think it also makes the coffee taste better. It definitely filters out all the coffee grinds. It's easy to just rinse out and reuse again the next time.

no more buying coffee filters, but its a little messier to clean

These gold filters work great. No more buying coffee filters if you dont want to . I like to use both (at different times) since I get lazy about cleaning the gold filter and the paper filter is easier to dump. I'm not sure if I notice a diffence in the coffee-its just a matter of convenience for me.
