I do not own a Boxer but I love one dearly - my grand-dog TKO (teeko)! He is the brightest, most beautiful boy! I send him gifts with every care package I send to my daughter and son-in-law.
Boxers are a high energy dog and require both attention and enterprise - they must have something to keep them busy. Variety seems to work for them too. TKO has never been destructive because he has a wide assortment of toys to occupy himself and he has a companion for when Mom and Dad go off to work - granted, his companion is a bit unorthodox since he is a cat - but he is a very big cat - a Norwegian Forest Cat.
TKOs parents (owners) are very responsible and make extra effort to see that he gets the exercise he absolutely must have - by taking him regularly to the local dog park where they live in San Diego.
Boxers also require additional nutrition - because they are high energy - it can be hard to keep meat on them - so they may need extra fats at certain times of the year - they are a warm weather breed and will especially need to bulk up during colder months. By bulk up I mean maintain a healthy weight - not be allowed to stay too lean.
Bethany supplements TKO's diet with a stew she makes just for him from carrots, greenbeans, celery and fresh meat to give him the greens he needs and supply some additional protein over his normal mix of kibble and treats. She also gives him a daily vitamin in a liquid oil base - which is why his coat iis show ring ready!
