The limousine of balanced, peaty malts
5 star rating

A fan of peaty malts
Pros

Beautiful balance, Paragon of peatiness, Unbelievable long finish

Cons
Expensive, Makes many other malts seem second-rate

If you've tasted your Macallans and Glenmorangies, and you have already broken into the peaty Islay malts like Lagavulin, you may be ready to get yourself a special bottle. If you can justify an extravagant purchase of > $200 for a bottle, get yourself the Bowmore 30 year old. You will be blown away by how different this scotch tastes compared to even moderately expensive and desirable bottles like 18-yr-old Glenmorangie and 25-yr-old Macallan.

If you'd spend $25-$30 on a bottle of wine, it's not that different -- a bottle of this stuff is going to last you a long time (I had one that lasted me 2 years).
