SelectTech Dumbbells sell at the hefty price of $400. Since dumbbells sell for about $1.00 per pound I could have bought 52.5 pounds of dumbbells for about $110.00
I think convenience factor is worth the money though many may see them as a frivolous purchase.
We got two dumbbells that allow us to go from 5 pounds to 52.5 pounds. If you are curling or pressing considerably more weight than that these will not be for you.
The dumbbells sit on a base. In order to get the weight I want to lift I turn a dial let’s say to 20 pounds for bicep curls. When I lift up the dumbbell I get 25 pounds of weights....
review »When I first saw these dumbbells in the store I thought "wow, what a cool concept" - all of the weights I need in one set. There's no need to buy a rack to hold different sets of dumbbells (which only makes sense if you're in a health club). Granted, I'm a "girl", so I don't need 50lb+ dumbbells, but even if you need smaller weights for a variety of different small-muscle exercises, this is a great set.
