Boston Legal Review Summary

Our reviewers had a lot of different ways of describing the tv show Boston Legal "outrageously over the top weirdness and social commentary", "humorously serious", "a though provoking show that's funny too" and "The absolute best show on TV". One thing they agree on, it's worth watching. Starring James Spade, William Shatner and Candace Bergen (to name a few), this show focuses on "presenting issues the news doesn't even want to address and (does) it in a way that, whether you agree or disagree, you're drawn in." Our reviewers suggest getting up-to-date by renting previous episodes of the series via websites such as Netflix or Blockbuster Online.

My parents got me into Boston Legal, and my adult son also likes it. The show has outrageously over the top wierdness and social commentary, usually it's very good. Boston Legal aired a new episode last night, Tabloid Nation. The sub-plot in this episode shows Shirley (Candace Bergen) defending a Vietnam War Vetran for repeatedly, illegally killing seals for food. He had Post Traumatic Stress and bi-polar disorder. Shirley wants to use lack of mental competence in his defense. In one poignant moment the veteran objects to the defense, explaining that he is a war hero and asking not to made into... review »

My husband and I started watching "Boston Legal" after it had been on awhile and wish we'd been in on this gem from the beginning.  (I plan to go back once it's off the air and start from scratch via Blockbuster or Netflix so I can enjoy the total experience from the beginning).  The characters are quirky. They aren't all loveable but all make you want to come back and see what they are up to week after week.  James Spader and William Shatner in particular are a hoot - and especially together. I'd be curious to see what real attorneys think of the show.  It certainly shows their human side... review »

I have been a big fan of Boston Legal since episode one! The writing is genus, and the cast is remarkable! Very left wing, which is fun for me. The writers are right on top of real life situations and are able to turn things in the news into great fiction.

The stars are real stars, it's amazing to see them all on one show.

It seems that this will be the last season of Boston Legal and the writers are having a fun time with that, writing funny things into the script like, what if this is our last year together?  And, we just need a better time slot.

Ion television is going to start running...

I love this show!  One of my favorite things is that the current debates and concerns expressed in the nation and the world are expressed in the show.  The show doesn't only show one side of the debate; it shows both.

As much as I like the show, I do not consider it a family show.  Mature teenagers might be able to handle it.  However, younger children or immature teens may not be able to stay with their own beliefs.  This show may influence too much for the younger age group.

I absolutely love Boston Legal.  This show has succeeded at presenting issues the news doesn't even want to address, and do it in a way that, whether you agree or disagree, you're drawn in and actually think about it while following the story line.....which is also quirky fun and enjoyable to watch.  I'd started to think reruns of MASH would be the closest we'd ever get to that kind of writing and production.  I hope they keep it up!

It's quirky.  It's funny.  It's thought provoking.  I'm always surprised when I see it listed as a drama when the Emmys or Golden Globes are announced.  Then I'll see a segment that makes me cry.  It's so real life.  Nothing is always funny or always serious.  We get through the hard times with humor.  Boston Legal is a shining example.  Denny Crane.

Boston Legal successfully combines humor and seriousness to create a wonderfully crafted "legal" show. Very chic and witty, this show makes puts me on the edge of my seat.

I would definately reccomend this to anyone who loves law dramas, but appreciates a funny twist and insight.

Boston Legal is one of the most original Law-firm shows I've ever seen the whacked out sense of humor is appealing the lines, script ideas and the snappy some backs are out of this world. While they deal with serious legal issues they still manage to find light in everything.

For me William Shatner is reason enough to watch this show.  However, if you're not a Shatner head like myself there's the great writing, cast, humor, and so on.  It's a great sho all around.  And it has Shatner.

David E. Kelley's spin off from "The Practice" zoomed up the TV charts with a rich cast including James Spader, Candice Bergen and of course William Shatner. (Beam me up Scotty!) Along with the suspenseful endings known in "The Practice", David Kelley now tosses in humor, and sexual tension so thick you need a steak knife to cut it.

Alan Shore (James Spader) and Denny Crane (William Shatner) have become fast friends with at least three things in common; cigars, Scotch and women.  Neither one of them are able to keep their pants on around a good looking woman.  But in the courtroom, both are able...

My husband started watching this show a few seasons ago and I could not believe the kinds of court cases and blatant sexual harassment that was seen. Now, I can watch the show and genuinely laugh out loud. They may have crazy, outrageous antics but the show says and does just about everything. Nothing for them is going too far. A show that can be so unpredictable and take the risks is refreshing. Their take on the constitution and the Mad Cow disease is unlike any I've ever seen but at the same time hilarious. I am sad to say this is the last season of Boston Legal. No one on television has ever... review »

Boston Legal is the bomb diggity! This show combines the funniest stuff you will ever see. I laugh everytime no matter what when this show is on. You never know what they are going to do next. I can't believe this is the last season, but I love watching the reruns too...If you haven't seen it and you love comedy which combines sex and politics and a lot of other subjects this is for you. You will think differently of lawyers for sure and they always seem to bring up good points about what they are fighting for in the courtroom to make you think, but make it fun too! Gotta watch it!

Boston Legal is a wonderful drama that puts a comedic spin on current events. It really showcases issues that are being debated on in the real world right now while adding humor and comedy to make the plot line flow.

The show features such names as William Shatner as the hilarious, over-the-top, eccentric - Denny Crane; James Spader as the brilliant, opinionated, best friend of Denny - Alan Shore; and Candace Bergern as the smart, serious, female lead - Shirley Schmitt.

Definitely a must-see!

This show is so funny and witty and even though they have some pervs as characters - only looking to sleep with women and many women at that- they are still so funny!  In addition to being hilarious this show brings real life very important issues - at the time that those occur in the real world, army recruitments, gay issues and all sort of things. while theshow uses lots of humor it does have the seriousness of every day issues that happen in the U.S.and the world. 2 thumbs up - GREAT SHOW!

Boston Legal did not start out as a comedy . But with the addition of William Shatner and Candice Bergen the writing changed.  James Spader and William Shatner are todays "Odd Couple".  They are hilarious, fun loving, irreverent, sensitive to each other and strange.  Just like the rest of us.  EVERYONE should watch this show  for abit of  comic relief from the day to day grind.  ENJOY!!!!!!!!
