My college age son got my wife and myself turned on to this program during season two. I wish we would have started watching from the beginning! Next to House, MD, Boston Legal is the most intelligently written program in years. Even when I disagree with the premise, I still find the writing to be superbly witty and pointed. The addition of John Laroquette to the show only made things more interesting. The show is so much like the old movies - watch the actors' eyes and mouths, their facial expressions, how they carry themselves. It isn't what they say - it is the innuendo and inflection. Finally, to quote Alan Shore's arch nemesis, Attorney Melvin Palmer, "I really get a hoot," out of how the show gets weirder and weirder by the minute. Just when one thinks it can't go overboard, it does.
Denny Crane: [walking through a crowd of reporters] "dennycranelaw.com. Pictures, bios, hobbies. I once captained my own spaceship. Muli-talented."
"Denny Crane!"
