I had Avent plastic bottles when my daughter was born in 2005. Unfortunately, like all bottles back then, it contained BPA.
When my son was born in 2007 (JUST as the BPA warnings started coming out), we decided to switch to a BPA-free bottle. I was afraid to get a BPA-free plastic bottle because I was afraid of other chemicals that they may discover are dangerous.
We went with the Born Free glass bottles because they were durable and we trusted the brand. I am thrilled with our choice. Glass bottles are much heavier than the same size plastic bottles, so we bought the 5 oz bottles instead of the 9-oz bottles. The glass was extremely durable; it even survived several drops on the hard floor. The nipple did a great job at preventing leaks. My son never had gas or any spitup problems when we used these bottles. Plus, most importantly, I know that I don't have to worry about any chemical safety issues with my son's glass bottles.
The glass bottles were a little bit more expensive than the equivalent-sized plastic bottle, but the piece of mind made it completely worth it!
