Most women and stores offer the boppy as a nursing solution, but this wonderful asset is more than just that:
For the Pregnancy
I can't begin to tell you how agonizing my last pregnancy was just two years ago. By 7 months I was already in severe pain thanks to a pinched nerve. My daughter decided it was most comfortable to have a foot in my ribcage and generally I hated going to the bathroom every 5 minutes. The boppy truly help my life - well, at least made it as comfortable as it could be.
Use the boppy as you lay down to help you get comfy. For me, it was behind my back. For my sister-in-law, it was between her legs. Regardless of how you use it, it's not just a post-pregnancy item. The $20-$40 price tag for the "naked" pillow won't feel so expensive when you actually use from the moment you get it!
For Nursing
When most people think of the boppy, they think of nursing. Generally, that's what it's used for. It wraps around a parent's waist level and offers enough support to give a mother's back support and/or relief while nursing (or for father's while giving the bottle). Multiple slip covers can be purchased, albeit fairly expensive. Whether lying down or in a chair, it offers much-needed support. From experience, I can tell you that a happy mommy or daddy can make it easier for a happy baby!
A word of warning: boppy's aren't that generous. If you are a plus-sized woman, I would suggest looking at alternative boppy options. Maybe someday they will realize that not all women are small when they get the boppy!
For Babies
Even from the very beginning, you can use the boppy to help an infant lounge, play with tummy time or help sit (eventually). Some boppy's even come with attachments, or make your own to hang toys from. Don't worry about spit-ups because slip covers are washable.
Summary
This really is a great addition for any new or experienced parent. The multiple slip cover options and size make it ideal for the normal-sized parent especially. I would advise parents to shop around first and find the pillow that is right for you. There are other options available that may be better suited, especially if you are a larger woman or don't have the budget for the boppy.
