Does anyone have to read just before going to sleep?  I often want to read for 10-15 minutes before falling asleep each night.  What's odd is the topic doesn't seem to matter to me  - anything from a mystery novel, religious topics, grisly true-crime stories, or sports - I doze right off after reading for a bit.

I must have inherited this trait from my mom, who - thanks to that Kindle 2 I got for her - is now back to her night-time reading that she's enjoyed for years.

Ever since I was in elementary school, I have gone to bed with book - or magazine - in hand.  I can be dead tired after writing at night or watching movies late, but I can't sleep unless I read something for at least 10 minutes.

I like to read at least 45 minutes before I go to sleep evey night, or at least 5 nights a week.  Good for the brain and all that.  And its relaxing!

I find that reading before sleep is the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.  I'll often wake in the morning only to find the book that I was reading somewhere in bed with me.

I love reading before I sleep.  Can't seem to get it done every night, but pretty close to it.

I used to love reading before going to sleep - I remember taking literature classes in college to give me an excuse to cozy into bed and read a bit before passing out. Now, however, I'm so sleep deprieved that I pass out the moment my head hits the pillow.

I'm hoping that once my kids grow up a bit, I can start to get my sleep back and can begin to read in bed once more! Wishful thinking, I know.

I like to read but I can't read a good novel before wanting to sleep because I will stay up all night and not get ANY sleep!  I find if I read the scriptures before I go to sleep that I sleep better and have better dreams. [if any]

Ditto Bard again. I think we were separated at birth :)  Yes, I like to read for a short while before I go to sleep.

What is this thing called sleep? Never heard of it.

My mother reads every night and says it helps her. She's constantly hassling trying to get to the library though and I couldn't deal with that.

For me it's soft music and a fan - and Sominex.

Reading tends to wake me up and I'll stay up all night just to finish, so I usually read earlier in the day.
