I used to get tons of magazines in the mail, too many to read them all! I've cut way back.

My dad used to work in advertising so I used to get all the magazines I wanted (and more, ugh! LOL) so I'm burned out on magazines.  In fact, I still have a huge stack of Martha Stewart magazines I've never read but don't have the heart to get rid of because "someday" I will read them.  Heh.

The only magazine I actually subscribe to is Cook's Illustrated.  It's awesome!

I subscribe to PC World (a computer magazine) and Excellence (a car magazine). For some reason, I receive Car & Driver (another car magazine), although I don't pay for it. I would never have thought to subscribe to Car & Driver, although I find myself reading and enjoying it every month.

I used to work for a magazine called TV Technology and still receive it twice a month. It's a trade magazine for the television industry. I do read it, too.

In addition to those, my wife also receives various magazines, including Southern Living, Smithsonian, Photoshop and a photography mag (I forget the name). Together, we receive the monthly AARP magazine but don't always have the time to read it.

hi! I have been reading Vanity Fair magazines the day I get them in the mail for the last 23 years.  It has articles about a variety things.  Like old Hollywood, new Hollywood, gadgets, fashion, politcs, satire, comedy, mysteries and fashion.  The photographs by famous photographers are always outstanding.

The only ones I subscribe to are "True Blue Truck" for Ford truck owners, and "Tactical Knives", which has a lot of camping and bushcraft/survival info. Oh, yeah - I also take "JP" magazine which is a mag for Jeep owners.

What can I say, I'm a Texas boy.

I subscribe (as in, actually pay for) to about five different magazines and I pay for two subscriptions for my girls. But I receive much more than that. I get about thirty other magazines each month, free of charge. Yes, the mail man loves delivering to my household.

There is really only one magazine I have consistently subscribed to for years- Burda World of Fashion.  With 40+ patterns right in the magazine to sew for all kinds of people, I just love being able to look at the photos and know that I can recreate what they are wearing if I want to!  I also get FIRST magazine because it is a gift and Birds & Blooms for the same reason.  I use that one for inspiration when I get time to paint.

I get WeightWatchers magazine (free though), Entertainment Weekly (hubby's request), Family Fun (free sub!), Parenting (free sub!) and Good Housekeeping.

Now, the number of magazines I actually read a month? 0-1

I get Glamour magazine, but frankly, it bores me now.  Seems like the same stuff from month to month.  My subscription runs out soon, and I'm letting it lapse.  There's so much online for free, it doesn't make sense to pay for the magazine to me, plus I save on paper that way.

I only get the Yoga Journal and I think Prevention is free. I used to get a lot more but wasn't reading them so I let some trees live!

I don't get any magazine subscriptions any longer.  I used to pay for US Weekly and Star, but I can get the stories as they happen for free online at sites like TMZ and PerezHilton.  Coastal Living really just made me angry because they'd show all of these incredible beach houses that were someone's 2nd or 3rd house that they only visited once or twice a year.  I also was getting Martha Stewart, but they've recently changed the format of the magazine and I don't like it.  It is something like $50 per year for a subscription, so I told my husband not to renew it when it expires this month.

I just ran out of my Country Sampler subscription, currently subscribe to Good Housekeeping, and waiting on All You to start coming in. In case anyone doesn't know, All You is only sold at Walmart, which I try to avoid, but this mag is JAM PACKED with coupons!

Except for a rare occasional paper we don't purchase any newspapers or magazines. It's one of the ways we help the environment.

I know what you're saying and will not say that you are wrong. I do want to point out that people who write for magazines and newspapers create a lot of content that all of us enjoy reading. I write for newspapers and magazines, and wouldn't if this writing was for free or drastically reduced from its current level.

I wrote a series of maintenance articles for a certain fairly scarce sports car, and know that many owners of that car read and appreciated those articles. Without getting paid for them, I wouldn't have written them. Yeah, they can be monetized somehow on the Web, but no one has figured out how to generate Internet income at anywhere near the level of a paper magazine. Thus, people who write articles for the Web get $20 per article and I got paid... well, much more.

Unless people are willing to pay for content, there will cease to be high-quality content. And then we're all losers.

I hear what you're sayin', though...

A few of my subscriptions are online [Save Trees, Read Online] but sometimes the tactile experience of a magazine can't be beat.  Paper wise I subscribe to Western Horseman and American Quarter Horse.  Online, Writer's Digest, The Farmers Almanac and The New Yorker

You made some really good points, Bob.   I know what you mean and I agree.

Although I don't subscribe, I do sometimes read them and enjoy them. I appreciate the work of writers and artists and photographers. Would even like to be one of the well paid contributors. I would certainly opt for the higher pay check. Reading them in the doctors' waiting areas helps pass the time.

Besides my concern for the trees and the environment, I'm saving space within my home environment. I'm also saving money. I simply can't afford all the subscriptions. I'm better off just buying an occasional issue and sometimes reading them online.

Also the magazines should pay their quality producing writers the same online. They're worth it.

My husband just received his GAMES magazine in the mail today. He loves to puzzle! I'm relegated to the Sudoku puzzle in the newspaper.

I've been a Time subscriber since October of 1983, and when I was in college I used to get Playboy magazine (had the student discount).

I mentioned above what I get but now my hubby got 6 magazines for free for 3 months. My first Entertainment Weekly came. I can't remember what else I subscribed to. I haven't even read my O magazine and that's one of my favortites. When I'm not working out I'm online. I have no idea how people read - well I guess if I weren't a TV addict I'd read at night.
