I've read Love The One You're With, Chasing Harry Winston, The Last Lecture, loads of Nora Roberts, Practically Perfect, The Beach House (by Jane Green), oh and I forget the rest.  Just picked up a backpack full of new ones from the library today.

I'm reading an enormous biography of Steve Goodman (who should be a favorite in Chicago) called Facing the Music. It's pretty good so far.

Bob, is he the one who wrote/sang "City of New Orleans"?  That name sounds very familiar.  One of my favorite Jimmy Buffett covers is of that song and I think he credits it to Steve Goodman.

Yup, that's the one. He was a terrific singer/songwriter and was in Buffet's band for a while. Among other songs, Goodman wrote the theme song of the Chicago Cubs (Go Cubs Go!). Sadly, he died of leukemia in 1984 at the age of 37. What a loss... he was a one-of-a-kind performer.

I just picked up "Fear and Yoga in New Jersey" yesterday and so far it's really good.  A fast, summer read.  So far anyway LOL.

I usually read popular fiction like David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, Jeffery Deaver, and Joseph Finder. However, I'm currently ''between jobs'' and have mostly been reading books about writing resumes, the hidden (very well hidden) job market, and things like Microsoft Excel for Dummies. When I have some extra money again I plan to blow $100 at the bookstore for ''fun'' reading!

I'm waiting to get The Other Boleyn Girl from my friend who is a fanatical reader, like myself. I can't wait to read it and then watch the movie! I have read a lot of books so far this summer - The Husband by Dean Koontz, Empress a Novel by Shana Sa, Three books from the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson, (can't wait to read the 4th), What Looks like Crazy on an Ordinary Day by Pearl Cleage and First Evidence by Ken Goddard. Now I am reading The Dirty Girls Social Club by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez. I LOVE to read every night before bed - can you tell? :)

I have been peeling through Jodi Picoult's books all summer. Intense, dramatic, juicy and thought-provoking. My all time favorite book:Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Wonderful, uplifting and unforgetable. Couldn't put it down.

I usually like history books or classics like Last of the Mohicans, Huck Finn, etc. That stuff has more appeal to me than pulp fiction I've read.

Since my last post I've read The Cinderella Rules, The Big Bad Wolf Tells All, The Bergdorf Blondes, The Debutante Divorcee, Paradise Fields, Do Me Do My Roots, Balancing in High Heels... and, well, that's just the ones that I remember.  I tear through books like no one's business.

Working on "Loving Frank" at the moment and am totally enthralled.

I just finished "You've Been Warned" by James Patterson and Howard Roughan. If Patterson had more than a minor editing role in this one I would be surprised. It was a good read, I guess, but just not what I have come to think of as Patterson. I would have been less surprised if it was by Dean Koontz. I am getting less enthusiastic about Patterson novels with co-writers.

I just started "Bone Garden" by Tess Garritson. I'm having trouble getting into that one so far.

Although Summer is officially over this weekend, I have really enjoyed this book worm thread so let's keep it going!!

I'm reading The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve. It's an Oprah's Book Club pick. I've never gone wrong with an Oprah book... and this one is a major page turner. It's one of those books where you keep saying to yourself, "I'll just read one more chapter and then go to bed", but you can't stop.

TheBard and I just got tickets to an event with author Philippa Gregory.  The Paramount Theater in Aurora IL is going to have a screening of The Other Boleyn Girl, followed by a question and answer session and book signing by Ms. Gregory.  I loved the book, and I can't wait to see the film and hear about her process of writing. :)

I have been reading James Patterson, Luann Rice, Danielle Steele, Catherine Coulter, and I am just now going to start a book by Tami Hoag. Have no idea about her writing yet. An acquaintance really likes her. Anybody out there a fan of hers?

I have been reading every night before bed, and of course loving up my five dogs. I'm still reading Danielle Steele, James Patterson, Catherine Coulter and etc. I just received some more books on CD from "The Audio Book Stand".  Really good buys there. The price is right and many hours on tape to listen to while driving or walking. Really enjoy having a book everywhere I go. Can't believe it took me til a year ago to get into listening to books on tapes. And of course you can rent them at the library too. So that's another option while driving or traveling. Just thought I'd put that out there. Happy Valentines Day everyone

Hi everyone, It has been awhile since I have had time to check in. Been just too busy. My washer/dryer stacker totally burned out on me, so I have been going to my daughters(only 8 miles away) and washing there most of the time. Or to the laundromat. I thought I was through with laundromats. Anyway, finally today my new washer and dryer arrived. It was like Christmas all over again. I know it is just a washer and dryer but you know, for me it is one of the best gifts I could get. I'm retired and getting on in my years, so bagging up and carting clothes to the laundromat is not some kind of exercise I look forward too.  LOL LOL So I've been reading and my last book is by Barabra Taylor Calwell. About 600 pages. Very good book. It has taken me 1 1/2 weeks to read it but I have about 15 pages to go.  I will do a review on my washer and dryer as soon as my husband gets them hooked up after he has completed the next 3 - 12 hour shifts which makes his days 15 hours from waking up to getting home as he drives 50 miles each way to work. So I guess I will just have to wait til then to try them out.  Okay have a good day everyone and will talk to you soon.  Take Care     Judebug

I am reading, Roadside Crosses by Jeffery Deaver.  It is so hard to put down, also very educational about what goes on in the computer world. Also James Patterson has a wonderful, exceiting, and easy read, Swimsuit.

Reading the latest release by David Sedaris, When You Are Engulfed in Flames. I've read all his books (Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, etc..) and let me tell you... they are hilarious. Most his books are compilations of short, hysterical stories from his childhood to adulthood.

If you're in the mood for a witty, quirky, thoughtful read, I recommend picked up a David Sedaris book. David is Amy Sedaris's brother - she's a comedian and author of I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. Also, you may recognize David from NPR's segment, This American Life.
