Honestly, I read her Twilight series of books and they were good, kept me reading straight thru. I'll say one thing, she's not an exceptional or elegant writer though her storyline is quite interesting in its concept. I just started her new book 'The Host" and hope it's as engrossing as the others.
The Twilight series of books is great fantasy reading. Was the author making a statement with the subject matter? In my humble opinion, I don't think so. Reading about her and how she came to write these books, they were created out of a dream she kept having. Pure fantasy for sure.
I do not believe Ms. Myer is trying to make a "statement" other than I want to make money! She had an idea and ran with it, or wrote it down actually.
As for the writing it is rather juvenile. I read the Twilight because my daughter almost begged me to, but after the first chapter, my interest waned somewhat. The books were written for the teenaged demographic and they read as such.
I read all the books and plan on seeing the movies. Right now I'm into reading the house of night series which i that was better then the twilight series...over all.
I'm a big fan of the Twilight books. Can't stay I was all that interested in the movies though. I liked how I could imagine the character's appearance and whatnot in my head prior to the movies, but I think now if I reread them, all I'd probably see is Kristen and Robert Pattinson. Boo.
