As a third year college student, my book stack is pretty monstrous (you know this is the same for my non-school related books, too, if you read my reviews often!). Some of these beasts are 800+ pages (Who does this??).

After getting a Barnes and Noble gift card and wanting to buy more than just books to add to the collection, I saw that there were several bookstands available for sale. A little light bulb turned on that told me I should most definitely look into these since I often stay up into the wee hours of the night hovering under a giant book and scrambling in between the pages and layer of chaos to keep track of my homework. With a bookstand, I could just prop the thing up and have space to keep organized.

This is exactly the case with the BookHug. It's just a little thing and if you didn't know what it was, you wouldn't. It's made of steel, I believe, and is just wonderful. It's small and easy to stow away when you don't need to have book support. The page holders are not too tall, not too small, and so they never block my text or let the pages flap open. With thin, smooth sheets of paper, though, sometimes the indentation of having metal rest against it will develop. However, this sort of paper has the same problem if you accidentally nick it with your fingernail so that means little to me.

I just love this little guy. He holds my huge and heavy math book open for me to be able to read, take notes, and manage the homework. For smaller books, it still works well, but there isn't as much bulk to hold the book down. If you just move the center of the book towards the side that needs more reinforcement, you shouldn't have a problem. If you're going for a magazine or something flimsy, I would recommend providing a harder support behind it (which works for thin books that are just too small for something meant to hold up textbooks, cookbooks, and things of that sort).

Overall, the BookHug is so much better than I expected. It cost maybe $12 or so on BN.com and was shipped for free as part of a larger order. If you are a busy student who spends a lot of time staring at the same couple of pages in a book or anyone who just doesn't want to crane their neck to be able to read their text from under a glare but just maintain the eye level of their computer screen, you should really look into this. It's definitely a good buy (and I think it's cute)!

(FYI: None of these pictures are my own. They are all from www.bookhug.com and are their own images.)
