It's very difficult to get my seven year-old daughter to take most medicines. She would rather suffer a cold (or worse) rather than take something to make her feel better. One of the few medications that she will take is Boiron Coldcalm Homeopathic Medicine. The package that I bought for my daughter contains 60 quick dissolving tablets. The instructions state to dissolve two tablets in the mouth every 15 minutes for two hours. After that, the user is supposed to take two tablets every hour until the symptoms are relieved. Before I go into what I do not like about this product, I do want to state that this really seems to work. My daughter has been using this for several days and she has not gotten a full-blown cold. She began taking the pills when her throat was sore and she was getting congested. Usually, when she gets a head cold, she gets it pretty bad and it can last for two weeks or longer. She is probably 90% on the mend now and I think that by using the Boiron Coldcalm tablets, she avoided something that could have been nasty and lasted a while. It might be obvious from my title that the problem with this product is how much and how often you need to take it. The hardest part is the first two hours, when you need to take two tablets every 15 minutes. My daughter wasn't exactly on a perfect pill-popping schedule but we did our best to get her the recommended dosage in the alloted time. Also, it seems like it would be unsafe to take so many pills for so long but because this is a homeopathic product and due to previous experience with similar medicines, I wasn't worried. There is a warning on the package in regards to taking this for more than 7 days, but my daughter hasn't taken it that long and will not do so. Overall, this products works well for my daughter and she takes it without any fuss. Therefore, I will continue to buy it for her when she needs it. Congestion Relief This seems to work well for congestion relief. While it wasn't a quick fix for my daughter, she only had congestion for about three days and the symptoms weren't too bad. Relief of Aches & Pains My daughter complained of aches before she took this medicine but she no longer complained after the first full day of using the product. Cough Suppression I can't determine if this helped my daughter with coughing. She still had a couple of sleepless nights due to heavy coughing. I put vapor rub on her feet, which seemed to help a lot. Perhaps instead of only two sleepless nights, she would have had more if she hadn't taken this. I really don't know.

I have had a pretty bad cold the last few days and have tried quite a few different remedies. I usually do not use homeopathic medicines because they are not scientifically proven to work, but I decided to try Coldcalm since I found it for a really cheap price at my local drug store. I was surprised at how many tablets were directed for adult use. I had to take two tablets every fifteen minutes for the first two hours, followed by two more tablets every hour until my symptoms were relieved. That is ten pills in just three hours. After taking that many doses of Coldcalm, I still had not been relieved of my symptoms and did not want to continue taking more pills each hour. I stopped using them and opted for real cold medicine! Unless you have heart problems or other medical conditions which prevent you from taking pharmacologic decongestants and cough suppressants, I would suggest sticking with real medication like pseudoephedrine to alleviate cold symptoms.

I used to smoke (I know, I know...), and would usually catch at least two colds a year. They would last a loong time, and only night time cold medicine would make me feel better, and I assume that only worked because it knocked me out. Needless to say, I was miserable with all these colds, and tried a lot of things to make them better (aside from quitting smoking... which, when I did it, worked very well!). I had tried a lot of different things that claimed they shortened the duration of a cold, but, like I expected, they did not. When I bought Coldcalm, I didn't expect anything, but I was pleasantly surprised. Both times I used this product, I felt better within two days. Not only does it get rid of your cold more quickly, it helps with the symptoms without making you feel dried out or knocking you out. The directions are strange, you take a lot at once, and dissolve them on your tongue. They don't taste bad, though, and I think taking some tablets every hour for a while is worth not being sick as long.

You're sick and you want to get better soon.  (unless you really want to get out of work/school)  I would not recommend Coldcalm Cold Remedy.   I am for homeopathic medicine, but they work in certain cases- usually before you develop the symptoms.  If your cold has gotten worse, then homeopathic is somewhat useless.  Homeopathic medicine isn't as strong as modern drugs so you'll be spending your time sleeping, eating chicken soup.  That's what Coldcalm is.  Don't think it will make you better instantly.  I want to get better ASAP!  So I go straight to Nyquil and sleep a lot for instant relief.   I have experimented with Coldcalm before when I was down with a typical cold.  The directions recommends that you take a 2 tablets (for an adult) for almost every two hours.  The tablets aren't distasteful and they dissolve instantly in your mouth.  I was already 3 days into my coldcalm medicine and I have yet to feel anything...and then I ran out.  What to do?  I was still sick and my boss thought I was playing hookie.  So I had to resort to the real "drugs."
