Blue Cross / Blue Shield —

I have had Blue Cross for years, but never really got sick. Well, this year I have been to many doctors and multiple claims have been a nightmare. My provider was told x-rays would be covered at 60% and then they covered nothing saying the x-rays were taken on an office visit and their limit for a visit is $25 no matter what is done on that visit. They also chose not to process a claim that I paid my deductible towards until after a later claim which they applied my deductible to, resulting in me owing an additional $250 to a provider. Not at all an honest practice and I don't appreciate the runaround when I finally need medical care. Everything was fine as long as I wasn't incurring medical bills and paying my premiums, but they have really let me down when I finally needed them. This is provided through my work, so i'm stuck with them for the moment - unfortunately. If you have a choice in health insurance - DON'T choose Blue Cross of California.

A doctor ordered some tests for my wife saying that they were needed. Highmark Blue Cross Blue shield says they are unnecessary and has lft me with two lab bills totaling over $500.00. It is their job to dodge paying bills. They have been paid $10,000 in premiums in 1 year and aren't good for shit.

I am in New Jersey & I agree - BCBS is horrible - the worst. I have coverage through my work w/ them and my father has the medicare plan. They deny everything that is covered in the hopes that the patient will just pay the bill so they don't have to. Fortunately, I call them and argue everything but after so many years it is exasperating even though I do not give up. Some advice too - double team them - when they give you the "it was not authorized line" tell them to hold on while you third party in the contact @ your doctor's office - this works welll b/c they always give one reason of denial to the patient & a whole different story to the doctor's office - this tactic works great b/c they can't keep lying to either party. Don't ever give up calling either and dispute everything. Also ridiculous is their flyers pretending to promote good health - I know myself I would be 100% in better health if I did not have the mental stress of constantly calling in to dispute every fraudulent denial.
