Great dog food for a great dog

Love this for our chihuahua. She has been super healthy while eating it and has a perfect body mass now. Before she was always a tiny underweight. The food is free of a lot of junk that other high price have In them so it makes the price pretty fair

Blue has done wonders for our dog

We got a chocolate lab/shepard mix as a puppy in June and have always fed him grain free foods. We've tried a few other brands that were similar in cost, but after reading reviews of different dog foods I found that the Blue Wilderness salmon flavor was one of the highest rated dog foods on the market. Max loves this food and has been incredibly healthy. His coat is always shiny and he's always full on energy. He's remained slim, but is muscular and well proportioned. We've had dogs in the past who ate regular dog food and they always seemed to have bad breath. Max doesn't have that problem and I attribute it to his overall health and the good ingredients in this food. Although this food is significantly more expensive than any of the usual brands, we feel that it's been well worth it for his health and coat. We've never had to take him to the vet because of sickness and he is as healthy and happy as can be!

Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain-Free Dog Food

I have an Australian Shepherd that has developed skin allergies.  Poor thing gets these red blister like pimples that itch & scab.  I was feeding my dogs a Salmon & Brown Rice mixture but after he developed this condition I started researching various ultra premium dog foods (I mean, I think Salmon & Rice is premium on its own). Blue Buffalo Wilderness had good reviews so I fed this to Benjamin for 6 months.  I wanted to give it a fair chance at addressing his particular skin allergy.  After 6 very expensive months (I free feed my dogs so not just Ben but the other three ate this as well) I have opted to try another brand as there was no discernable improvement in his skin condition. However, I have to say that my dogs coats look fantastic and I think it is fair to contribute it to the diet they were on.  I think that this is a really good food but it didn't address the problem that my Aussie was having. On to another option.....

My dog loves Blue Buffalo Wilderness but recalls scared me.

I initally switched my dog to Blue Buffalo Wilderness because a) it's rated very highly and is a 6-star dog food, and b) it was available at most of my local pet food stores, which was important to me. Another thing that was extremely attractive about this food was that it was grain free. A grain free diet is very important to me, as dogs in the wild do not typically eat corn, wheat, or whatever other grain by-products are included in most common dog foods. My picky dog absolutely loved it, although she didn't eat the little blueberries that are included. I fed this to her for quite some time, until there was a recall. Apparently, some of the vitamin counts were too high for dogs and many batches of this food were recalled. I didn't want my dog to suffer some of those side effects, so I switched to another food. I am absolutely planning on switching back to this food once it's been given the all clear.

I may like Blue Wilderness better than my dog does...

We had been feeding our dog Orijen, but she ran out and although we loved Orijen, we didn't want to make the two-hour trip to the nearest retailer. I went online to look at the websites I always rely on for dog food advice. I saw that Dog Food Analysis ranked Blue Wilderness as a six star dog food (the highest rating available on the site), so I decided to look into it. I liked the fact the Blue Wilderness is grain free. I also liked it because it is available in salmon, which my doggy absolutely adores. I have become an ingredient snob since I first brought my doggy home, because that was the point I learned about what's good and what's bad in dog food. I liked that everything on the ingredient list is relatively easy to understand- no mysterious frankengredients! Also, the website has definitions of every ingredient, so you're only one click away from understanding if there's something you're not sure about. The first thing I noticed when I opened the bag- the smell! It smells delicious and actually made me a little hungry. My dog was not very eager to eat it, but that's likely because she's used to her old food and this was an abrupt switch. She has adapted to it. Her stools are still firm, her energy levels are the same, and we haven't had any problems with vomiting or anything like that. I still think I like the food better than she does, but maybe that will change. We were only planning on feeding this until we could get our hands on another bag of Orijen, but it's possible we will permanently add Blue Wilderness to our rotation.
