The Blue Buffalo Company was founded by the same guy who started Sobe beverages. After he sold that company to PepsiCo for big bucks, he turned his attention from high-fructose-corn-syrup-laden soft drinks to holistic, all-natural, healthy pet food.

Using the philosophy that you shouldn't feed your dog anything you wouldn't eat yourself, Blue Buffalo has formulated its dog and cat food with all human-grade ingredients, no animal by-products (which is good, when you consider what animal by-products actually are), or the common allergens corn, wheat, and soy. Blue Buffalo foods contains "Life Source Bits," which are cold-formed nuggets of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. The cold-processing keeps the potency of the nutrients intact, unlike most pet foods, which have the nutritional value literally baked out of them.

The extra cost of this premium food is offset by fewer trips to the vet.

The first ingredient is always meat or fish, and not chicken meal or fish meal like some so-called premium brands, who often use meat that is little better than roadkill.

Our dog Boo is a huge fan of BlueBuffalo, alternating between the adult Chicken & Brown Rice and Lamb & Brown Rice varieties. Blue Buffalo is also available in Fish & Sweet Potato, Lite, Large Breed, Small Breed, and Puppy formulas. In cans, they offer Chicken, Lamb, Beef, Vension, Turkey Meatloaf, and Salmon.

While I can't personally attest to the great taste of Blue Buffalo, my dog Boo certainly can.

Blue Buffalo is available at all PetSmart stores.
