Blockbuster Online —

A friend and fellow movie lover turned me onto Blockbuster Online. No longer do I have to trudge to the local Blockbuster, and no longer do I have to rely on Pay Per View. I can have as many movies as I want when I won't. Movie freedom.

For a base price of $17.99 per month, although there are other plans offered for both more and less, I can have up to three movies at a time in my home. I keep a running queue at Blockbuster online of different movies I want to see. Within 24 hours of me returning a movie, Blockbuster Online logs it back in and ships out the next one in my queue. It's as simple as that, watch, return, get more.

In addition to this, you can rate movies that you have already seen, whether you saw them through Blockbuster or any other means.  This helps them to suggest more films that they think you might enjoy. So far, there have only been a few films that have not been available. One is a documentary with a long waiting list, and three others had a short waiting list, and I eventually received them within a week. I have over eighty movies in my current queue, so there's no danger that I'll be running out of things to see any time soon. They have everything they would have at a Blockbuster store, and without size constraints on them, it seems they have a much larger selection.

You don't even have to wait to return the movies through the mail. If you want one right this very minute, you can return a movie to a Blockbuster store, although then you are tied to whatever rules they have there for that movie, such as you then have to return it in house as well as being open to any type of late fees they might have. You're also allowed to rent one game a month for free and are allowed a percentage off of purchasing previously viewed movies. It's obviously a way better deal than you would have renting at the store or even on pay per view.

There is another service that very closely compares, NetFlix. I checked them both out, and they were both offering plans for the same prices at the time I was looking to enroll. NetFlix had a certain amount of downloadable movies included in their plan, yet obviously don't have a store to return movies to if you choose, nor do you get a free game. The problem is they don't offer their downloadable movies to anyone with a Mac, so it was out for me. I was better off going with Blockbuster Online and getting the additional benefit of the free game every month.

Since signing up for Blockbuster Online, I haven't regretted it all. I'm spending the same amount of money I was before on Pay Per View and feel I'm getting so much more back in return.

I was a blockbuster subscriber for a long time. I only discontinued my membership when I didn't have time to watch the movies. I'll pick it back up again when I can....it's a great program with a fast turnaround.
