I found Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment at my local drugstore for $2.79 and I have not needed to try another product since. I love, love, love this lip ointment! Blistex in the trusty little tube is the King of relief for chapped lips. For over 20 years go me I am the PRESIDENT OF THEIR FAN CLUB with the great creamy, easy melting, very shiny look to beautiful kips. $.59 a tube where I shop and Chap Sticks can only dream about Blistex's success. appreciative of good service
Blistex is the all encompassing brand name for several over-the-counter products intended to heal and shield your lips from cold sores. Several of them come packaged in what can best be called candy flavors. This particular one is just plain white. — I take several products for the cold sores that develop on my lips each at the beginning of each winter. I used chapstick for about 20 years. Living in a cold climate, chapped lips were a problem every winter. Chapstick provided temporary relief if you put it on every 20 minutes, but sometimes just made it worse because it made you lick your lips. A never ending cycle. About 10 years ago, I used Blistex for the first time. I have not used chapstick since. And more importantly, I have not had chapped lips in 10 years. I thought it was inevitable in this climate. I got Blistex by accident a few years ago and found it to be a great product to have around. With my family and I living in one of the Midwest states it is especially great in the winter. I have a ten year old and she will even use it. It really doesn't have a taste god or bad and is one of the reason we use it. She is less likely to lick it off. I use it regular through out the year as to keep moisture on my lips. In the winter months I use it more as to prevent cold sores and chapped lips. I have three different flavors of Blistex. My favorite is the spearmint. It kind of tingles when it goes on, and I like that. I have the cherry flavor, and that seems less effective. I also have the original Blistex flavor, and that seems as effective as the spearmint. In really dry weather, you need to apply it more often, but less often than any other lip balm I've tried. I love Blistex, I use the moisture stick, it feels as if it is protecting your lips from everything, the only downside, and yes I found one, is the very waxy feeling after continued use, I am sure there is buildup and then y ou have to wash and start all over again. this is the only medicated lip ointment for me and my family. the first blistex i had was given to me by my husband when we were still dating. my lips hurt because they were cracked and very dry and i didn't know what to do because it was my first winter ever.
