Not enough hydration, weird tint, and wears off too fast!

Quick View: i have a load of lip balms but always pick up more. I have dry, often times chapped lips so I need a good balm that heals as well as protects. I don't feel Blistex Lip Tone heals at all and it is so thin that it only lasts minutes on my lips. And the tint? Weird!

My Take on Blistex Lip Tone

This balm comes in a Chapstick-like tube and has a brownish tint to it. I think it is supposed to be lip color but my lips are very pink so the tint makes them look brownish. I don't like or need tint in my balms and didn't realize I was buying a tinted balm when I bought this one.

Moving past the color issues, this balm does have SPF 15 in it and the only active ingredients in are sunscreens. It's a nice plus as our lips can and do burn in the sun - summer or winter.

The balm is very thin and somewhat sweet. It smooths on fine but, if I don't look in a mirror when applying, I get that weird tint on the skin around my lips and I look like a kid who has playing in her mother's makeup kit.

Blistex Lip Tone does add some hydration but it wears off super fast. It only stays on my lips for about 15 minutes IF I don't eat or drink. When it wears off, my lips feel dryer than they did before I applied the balm.

This balm doesn't heal chapped lips. It is mostly a protectant and supposedly a lip moisturizer. I have no doubt that the sunscreen in this balm does protect lips some. I use an SPF 40 lip balm when I am out in the sun for any length of time but SPF15 is at least more than nothing.

For me, Blistex Lip Tone is a fail. It's too thin, doesn't heal or even help my chapped lips, and the tint looks wacky on my lips. I use balms mostly at home so a tint is not needed or wanted. Out, I use gloss or lipstick with a balm over them if needed. This balm would not work over lip color.

I probably won't use the tube I have anymore. I tried it about 10 times and have been disappointed each time. This one is not for me.

My Viewpoint

Blistex makes a lot of good lip balms but I don't consider Blistex Lip Tone one of them for me. If you don't have dry or chapped lips and like the idea of a brownish tint in your balm, this will help protect your lips from the sun and will add a little hydration. However, if you need a real balm to heal chapped or dry lips, look elsewhere. This one is just too thin and short wearing to do much of anything, in my humble opinion. 2 stars.

Me too. I use balms at home and lip colors when I leave the house. I can't' imagine wearing ONLY clear balm or strangely tinted stuff like this when I am out.

I am bad about lip balms too. even though I always end up leaving them at home because they interfere with my long wearing lipstick!

Thanks for the review Patty. I'm a lip balm junkie and I am always picking this specific product up and then putting it down. Now I know to stay away ;+)
