The Osterizer 14-speed all metal drive blender is durable. I love the glass pitcher. It cleans well and remains pretty--unlike a polycarbonate pitcher which clouds and gets ugly after several uses. The blade is very durable (can crunch completely frozen strawberries). It has 14 speeds...pulse, blend, chop, puree, mince, grate, beat, blend, shred, cream, grind, liquefy, whip and mix. I do not have a food processor and previously, I always cut my nuts up by hand. However, the other day I used the chop setting on the blender and it worked EXACTLY like a food processor! I've never been so pleased with an appliance in my life. I searched and searched for a blender for our wedding registry and was disappointed at the limited options found at retail stores like Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Crate & Barrel. I really love my Chris Freytag Personal Fitness Blender. I looked for several years for a blender that would chop ice and make smoothies and such but most I found were huge turbo blenders that you had to lug out every time I wanted to make something. Or little budjet blenders that wouldn't even cut through frozen fruit. This blender is amazing. It has a 350-watt motor and ice crushing blades that can mix fruits, veggies, and ice. We were buying new blenders ever couple of months because the motors would die - so we finally gave in and bought an expensive one. I got mine on sale at Williams Sonoma (who offers a lifetime warranty on everything they sell) for about $120. This was a big expense for us, but definitely worth it. Ours has been going now for about four years. It is loud and the only options are: hi,lo, or pulse. But, it has worked for everything we've needed it for. This blender has so many uses. It will chop nuts, vegetables, or fruits in either a fine or coarse texture. It will crumble bread, cookies, and crackers. It crushes ice and emulsifies dressings. I purchased the magic bullet and was pleasantly surprised! This little guy was so much more than a blender/chopper/mixer/etc! It makes the best smoothies in the world; better than any smoothie place. This is by far the best blender I've ever used!!!
I've had it for a couple of years & I've used it nearly everyday...sometimes several times a day!!!! It's great for smoothies, custom coffee blends, nut milks, nut butters, soups, fruit & vegetable juices, pancake batters, syrups....you get the point....it's great for everything!!!!!!! I can't say enough about how wonderful this blender is!!!!!!! The best part is; after all of those things you can make...it's super easy to clean!!!!! :D

The blender is one of the best I've ever had, surpasses other plastic blenders. I previously had a plastic blender which cracked when I tried to blend a soup-- the blender cracked under the heat and exploded all over my kitchen. The container is made of glass, which means you can use it to blend soups/hot foods without the worry of cracking.
The blender design itself is very nice, and it's available in many colors/finishes.

KitchenAid Pro Blender
This is the best blender ever!!! I was hesitant to even buy a blender because my friends' blenders were always breaking. So I decided I'd get the blender that I saw all the TV cooks using. The all had the Kitchen Aid blender. It was something $99, and this was back in 2003, and I had a rebate, so I it was like 89, with the tax (they still do the rebate! Oster 14-Speed Osterizer Blender (6608)
This blender has served me really well for light use. I enjoy having 14 different speeds (whether or not I'll need them all!) and have found that it tackles most things I want with strength and precision. The blade detaches as well, to make for easier cleaning.
