Nice Phone for First-Timers

4

It lasts for a while, but eventually the side buttons will come off. I've had mine for a few years, but I think it is time for a new one. Battery Life The battery drains once it's been charged or if the backlight is on. Display/Screen Quality The screen is hard to scratch and it shows clearly. Call Quality The calling is quite shaky, but it might just be my service. Ease of Use It is very easy to figure it out. This is why I recommend it for a first phone. Durability It lasts for a while, but eventually the side buttons will come off, making it hard to turn down volume or "quick access" apps. I have had mine for several years and it STILL works. Design The design is not very protective of the side buttons... They peel off easily.

This is a dying bread

With the phone market being what it is today I can say I am not impressed with this phone! After purchasing it with a 2 year agreement I found that BlackBerry would be going out of business and with these phones I can see why! I have been a huge fan of the Black Berry phone line back when the first pearl came out! At the time it was THE smart phone however after the years and the other manufacturers pushing far more advanced technology this one I hate to say is now far out of date. With a minimal application allows and a very small screen considering this day and age, i find it hard to see much of what the applications call for! The camera is a below average however works just as well as most cell phones and the call reception and voice options seem up to par. If you are a die hard fan of the Blackberry brand and you enjoy the best that comes from that brand name then this may be the phone for you. However as the market goes on blackberry has sadly proven not to hold up to par to what its customer base is looking for in todays mobile market.

A reasonable smartphone.

I use this as my daily phone, but mostly because I wouldn't get anything else. Not very impressed, could be better. Battery Life People say blackberry has exceptional battery life. Well, this is squat! Not good enough. Display/Screen Quality Good screen quality, but then again, how big is the screen, huh? Everything would look good if you trimmed it down to that size. Call Quality We'll one of the things it's actually good at. Call quality is brilliant, plus it has a lot of other call features. Ease of Use Yeah, it is very easy to use this, one of the reasons a lot of people buy it. Typing is really easy, usage is too. Everything can be done even by a little child, or an old grandma. Really simple to use! Durability Fell of my hands a couple of times, nothing ever happens to it! It could use it to break a theirs head, and still use it to call the ambulance. Design It's blackberry, so it so pretty eloquent! It looks really professional, can fool people im actually busy even though I'm just playing around or listening to music!

Great Keyboard, Limited Applications

4

I chose this phone for the keyboard, knowing that it doesn't run the popular apps that Android and Apple can handle. The keyboard has been a dream. I text a lot and it allows me free and easy communication. Seriously. The keyboard is amazing. Having said that, the camera will take photos, but the quality isn't great. If you want a background for your screen, you're good. If you want to Instagram photos, you might need another camera - and you'll need another device to post from. I understand the newer BBs can handle mainstream apps, but this phone is better suited for someone who wants to text, call, and use the calculator now and then. If you want to browse the internet, post photos, check Facebook, etc, you might need to consider an Android, Apple, or maybe the newer models of BB 10. Battery Life The battery lasts with moderate use throughout the day. If you're roaming or have a weak signal, that drains the battery faster. 75% of the time a single charge holds throughout the day. If I know I've got a spotty signal, I turn it off so I'll have power when I need it. I've had the phone about 18 months. I bought it used, so I don't know how long it was in use before I got it. I had to purchase a new battery in February, and it's been running as described above for about 10 months now. Display/Screen Quality If you just want to see your texts and caller display, this is great. If you want to examine pictures or browse the web, it's a little small. The screen is 1.5" x 2" or so. Call Quality Decent volume. No major issues. If I have trouble hearing, I just turn on speakerphone on low. Ease of Use For simple tasks, it's very easy. Updating apps, however, and browsing the internet is a bit complicated. It takes a lot of time. Durability I've kept it in a gel case for about 18 months and dropped it a few times. No problems. Design Great keyboard! Small screen. Sturdy design. Fits well in my hands.

I loved my Blackberry Curve Smartphone

4

I had this phone when it first came on the market a few years ago. I am a person that likes to change my phones to keep up with technology and that was one of reasons I purchased this phone a few years back.. Overall the phone worked very well. I had a hard time learning to use it, that was one of the only complaints I have had on this device. I have used all kinds of devices and for a simple interface this phone lived up to it's expectations and I used it for two years and it stayed like new and became one of my favorite phones. It helped me a lot with my business. The thing I hated most about this device is it is very small in size and I prefer large phones. Battery Life The Blackbery had great battery life. I would leave my phone on for a couple days and I would still have a charged enough battery that I can get where I'm going. Ease of Use The Blacberry was very easy to use. The key pad is somewhat small which makes the buttons hard to push.

Blackberry doesn't have the app capabilities or ease of use.

3

Compared to other smartphones in it's class the Blackberry doesn't have the app options or ease of use of Apple or Samsung products. The screen makes seeing images difficult and can be confusing to new users. Battery Life Had to charge at least once a day. Video watching depleted battery life quickly as did calls. Display/Screen Quality Low resolution and small screen size made internet use difficult. I had a hard time deciphering what I was highlighting. Call Quality Calls where standard and fine for type of product. Signals held up well in poorly covered areas. Ease of Use The scrolling method could make highlighting options confusing. Minimal application choices compared to other phones. The ability to sync to the computer was hard to decipher even with how to videos. Durability Durability exceeded that of other phones in it's class. When dropped it and it's screen held up. Design Screen entirely to small. Rubberized grip required to keep it from slipping from your hands.

A fantastic phone

5

This is one of the best cell phones i have ever, and probably will ever use. I have tried later versions of the blackberry and other brands but none have yet trumped this device. Firstly, the battery life is above exceptional, sometimes you forget that it even needs charged. The screen quality is top notch and the camera quality is better than i expected. It is an extremely durable device and it survived multiple drops which many other phones would have not. The call quality is superb and it is an extremely easy phone to use. Many people stray away from blackberry devices because the seem or sound too complicated. But this phone made it very easy to connect with emails, blackberry messenger and other communication software and was very easy to use each of these once they were connected. Overall I would highly recommend this phone, especially to people who are fans of phones with full qwerty keyboards.

Sturdy and suprisingly awesome Blackberry

5

I have been a diehard android fan since I got my first one in 2009. However I am a little rough on my phones and was getting tired of having to replace them, it was simply just costing way too much. So I made a leap of faith and decided to try out Blackberry. I have friends that have the Curve 8520 and figured that it was the safest bet. Before using it, I was worried that it wouldn't do what I had come to expect from my phone but soon realized that I didn't really need all the apps and junk to be happy with my phone. The blackberry might not have all the bells and whistles as the android phones do, but it comes with the things I use the most, email, texting and calling. The camera isn't perfect, but it lit situations it takes pretty decent pictures. The flash was a nice shock to me too, it is much better then the flash has been on my previous two android phones. While I don't have the games, and productivity apps that I had before, I have noticed that I don't really need them. A camera, texting and the ability to make calls and access my email on the go is really all I need and this Blackberry is excellent for all those things. I am glad I made the switch.
