Blackberry - Curve 8330 Cell Phone —

Blackberry Curve 8330

I will admit that I wasn't into the whole Blackberry scene when the phones started getting real popular.  In fact, my thoughts were that the only people who would be in need of such a hi-tech phone would be super important business men and women who need to streamline their office and home lives.  Over the course of a few months, it seemed like everyone, including stay at home parents,  were sporting a Blackberry and when I would ask them why they felt that they needed one, their answers would slowly turn me into a "crackberry" addict.

My Blackberry of choice became the Blackberry Curve 8330.  How did I function without this little pink piece of pleasure?

Quick and to the point, my favorite features are:

  • Calendar with reminder alerts
  • Tasks
  • Email Notification
  • Facebook Application
  • Bluetooth Compatibility
  • Detroit Tigers Application

From super busy business men and women to the stay-at-home soccer Mom, the Blackberry Curve is going to work hard for you!

Calendar
You know that big paper calendar that you tote around with you to Doctors office, so you know when you can schedule your next appointment?  Throw it out.  You don't need that big bulky thing anymore. The Blackberry Curve has an awesome calendar feature that allows you to add all your information, set reminders, recurrences, start and end times and also back up to your desktop computer, for safety.
The calendar is the must used feature on my Blackberry Curve 8330.  Basically, my entire life from the time I wake up til I go to sleep is in my calendar.  I set reminders for sports practices and games, Doctor's appointments and even the Detroit Tigers baseball schedule so I don't miss a game.
The calendar feature allows me to have my entire schedule with me at all times and really helps streamline my hectic life.
The only downside to the calendar feature is that I can't use the excuse "Let me check my calendar and get back to you".

Tasks
The tasks feature is the lifeline to my day.  Every night before I go to bed, I set up a task for the next day.  From my cleaning list to various phones calls I need to make to errands I need to run, the tasks feature on the Blackberry Curve keeps my list right at my fingertips.  Throw out those post-it note pads that you find everywhere around your house with forgotten things-to-do.  You don't need them anymore and may even save a tree or two in the process.

Email
Being able to have my emails sent to my phone and getting notified immediately is truly a huge convenience for me.  So many times, I would receive an email that would need an immediate response and I would miss the opportunity because I wasn't at my laptop in time.  With the emails coming to my Blackberry, I can take a quick glance and decide whether or not I need to response quickly from my phone or delete and take care of it later when I'm on my laptop.  Deleting it from my phone, does not delete it from my email on the computer unless I instruct it to.  This also saves me a lot of wasted time in the long run because  everytime I say "I'm gonna jump on real quick and check my email", before I knew it, an hour had gone by and I had wasted time doing less important things.

Facebook
Come on, admit it, you're addicted to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, too?  We all are.  It's the "in" thing right now.  The Blackberry Curve 8330 allows me to access these sites directly from my phone and even notifies me if someone has wrote on my wall, sent me a message, tagged me in a photo or commented one of my pictures.  With the Facebook application, I have the capability to write on a friends wall, send them a message, upload and tag pictures and view status updates, to name a few.  When I sign onto the computer and get onto Facebook, I waste a lot of time building my mafia, farm and taking useless quizzes.  The Facebook application from my phone allows me to keep in touch with friends and family while eliminating the time suckers that come along with it.

Bluetooth
Yes, I was one of those people who thought that having a phone attached to your ear made a person look more stupid than cool.   UNTIL I received one with my phone.  The bluetooth is actually a very convenient tool that I now  wear in my ear, only when in use.  99% of the time, I use my bluetooth in the car while I am driving.  This allows my hands to be free to apply makeup, change the radio stations and eat!  All kidding aside, in the busy suburbs of Detroit, I am able to concentrate more on the road and less on holding my cell phone up to my ear.  The other times that I use my bluetooth is while cleaning house.  When I was in the middle of a task and the phone would ring, I would sit down and talk and get off track.  Now I am able to have both hands free to clean up without getting a kink in my neck.  Just another example how the Blackberry Curve has helped streamline my busy life.

Detroit Tigers Application
The Blackberry Curve isn't all work and no play.  In fact, while browsing several of free applications available for download, I came across the Detroit Tigers Application that proudly displays the old English D on my home screen.   This application gives me up to the second updates, scores, player stats, news and links to everything Detroit Tigers.  For a baseball fan, this is one feature that I wouldn't want to live without again!

The Blackberry Curve 8330 has so many more features that could help streamline and benefit  your life that it would take forever to list.  I just featured my top favorites.

Of course with the good also come the bad.  My only complaint about the Blackberry Curve is the small qwerty buttons.  I have a hard time with my long nails typing on my phone.  My husband and his larger fingers do, as well.   I have tried the keyboard on the Blackberry Bold and found it more user friendly and will keep that in mind when my contract is up and I'm due for a new, upgraded phone.

When shopping for a new phone, think of the conveniences listed above and apply them to your everyday life.  Do you live by a calendar?  Have little post-it notes stuck all over the house? Often forget menial tasks?  Spend too much time on Facebook?  Would like to receive your emails as soon as they are sent regardless of your physical location?  Want to talk on the phone while driving and free up your hands for safety?  If your answer is yes to even one of these questions, check out the Blackberry Curve 8330 for yourself and make life a little easier for you.

Thanks Susie!
I tried to keep it limited to the features that work best for me. If I tried to cover all that the phone does plus all the technical stuff (that I know nothing about) would have called for a very long and (not to mention) boring review. :)
