Blackberry - Curve 8310 Cell Phone —

This phone has changed my life!  I know its referred to derogatorily as a "crackberry," but that is just because it is that addictive.  This one has the GPS in it, and we've already used it multiple times when traveling.  Now we don't have to carry our Garmin with us everywhere we go.  In addition, you can get all of the Google functions on it - gmail, reader, documents, calendar, etc.  Which means I don't have to have my laptop glued to me at all times either.  With the new bag restrictions on airlines, its important to consider how much your phone can do.

In addition, being a non-texter, the keyboard really helps.  The buttons are a bit small and difficult to use at first, but you quickly adjust.  Texters may not find the keyboard to be an advantage.  In fact, they may find it to be a hassle because it does make the phone quite a bit larger.  But, for those of us who spent 1/2 an hour writing a single sentence text in the past, this is key.

Finally, I really like the extras on the phone.  The camera has 1X to 5X zoom and the pictures come out really nice.  I also like the memo pad. I now have my shopping list, gift list, things to do, etc. with me at all times.  No more remembering my planner or my shopping list that I jotted down on the back of an envelope.  It is always right there with me.

I got a great deal on the phone at Radioshack using AT&T.  And although it may cause a slight spike in my phone bill, I think that the benefits definitely outweigh the costs incurred.
