I bought this toaster to replace an older model of B&D toaster oven. The toaster switch is a dial that you set for a certain number of minutes for light, medium or dark toast. It seems to take forever to make light toast, but the real danger is the timer often sticks just before shutting off and the toast burns. I got sidetracked making breakfast and when I turned to get the toast my whole toaster was in flames. I immediately pulled the plug and tried to open the door to remove the burning bread but the flames went POOF and ignited even more. I had to use a fire extinguisher to put the fire out before my cupboards or curtains started to burn.
Don't buy this with a dial switch for toast. Make sure it has a push button on and off for toast.
