Black and Decker Iron - Quick and Easy 410 —

I have been packing things up around the house since we are in the middle of moving and basically doing it all on weekends and just ran across my old iron.  It is a Black & Decker Quik 'n Easy 410 Iron that we have had for over 12 years.  I was going to toss it out, but it still works fine.

Black & Decker Quik 'n Easy 410 Iron

The Black & Decker Quik 'n Easy 410 Iron has served me well and lasted for much longer than I expected it too.  My husband does most of the ironing at our house and he is the one that decided to buy a new iron.  This one still works fine and I had put it up in the closet in case the new one went out.

The Black & Decker Quik 'n Easy 410 Iron is a steam/dry iron.  It has a teflon base that I consider to be a "must-have" feature when it comes to irons.  The Quik 'n Easy 410 also has an auto shut off switch, another feature that is necessary for safety reasons.

This iron is easy to use and has the settings printed on the iron underneath the handle of the iron.  The recommended settings are as follows:

Dry setting-1:  For acrylic materials

Dry setting-2:  Nylon and silk materials

Dry setting-3: Polyester and rayon materials

Dry setting-4:  Cotton blends like cotton/polyester

Dry/Steam setting-5:  Wools

Steam setting-6:  Cotton

Steam setting-7:Linens

Other features include the sure steam system and an antomatic clean valve.  It is advertised as delivering more steam than the previous model by Black & Decker.  The automatic clean valve keeps the steam ports open, clean and fully functioning.

The temperature control is located on the tip of the pointed section of the iron.  The knob contains the settings from 0 (off) to 7 for the highest heat setting.

Since this is a steam iron, it has a water indicator underneath the handle.  The clear tube allows for you to see how much water you have in the iron.

Performance

The Black & Decker Quik 'n Easy 410 Iron is a high quality inexpensive iron.  This one has lasted us for years and has at least another year of service in it.  My husband replaced it because he thought the iron wasn't gliding well enough when ironing.  This turned out to be the ironing board cover's fault--which needed replacing.

The Quik 'n Easy 410 Iron is a great choice in an iron for pressing cottons.  The fine mist spray nozzle works well and makes getting those tough wrinkles out, a much easier job.  The teflon coating makes the surface of the iron non-stick and also easy to clean.

Recommendation

I don't remember exactly how much we paid for this iron, but it was under $40.  For the number of years of service and dependability, I have to say this is a "work-horse" of an iron!  If you can find one or a similar model, I would highly recommend it.

Great review. They just don't make things like they used to, well they might, but you have to pay through the nose for it! 12 years is a long time for such a frequently used appliance!
