Black an Decker Toaster Oven -1350 Watts TRO700 Series Review

Quality of manufacture has definitely gone downhill. I think it's because some other company took over Black & Decker.

Even though the Black & Decker TRO700 series toaster oven is a nice looking toaster unit, its functionality is not that wonderful. The B&D has stylish knobs and design, rimless glass front, etc. and I have to also mention the nice crumb guards, but you can find a better working toaster oven at probably the same or better price.

This particular Black & Decker unit is inconsistent to say the least. The following are just some examples of the less than great experiences using this toaster oven. The timer can stick on lower settings. When toasting, if you want the product to only warm to "less than light" the timer knob can stick and continually heat up until its burnt to a crisp. The heating is also uneven on most every setting. If it has "convection" function, it is worthless in a small unit with a side vent. That probably contributes to the uneven heating. Temperature gauge is just really way off. It toasted the top, but barely the bottom. You had to turn the toast over by hand to get it evenly done, and it had to be set to the max to toast bread at all. The oven temperature was a complete wild guess.

I would not say the TRO700S was horrible and completely not usable, but I don't believe I would use it again because results are just not the greatest. The toaster oven lasted about a year. Disappointing.

By the way, it was a challenge trying to even contact someone regarding repair or replacement. Apparently, Black & Decker no longer owns or services their appliances. Spoke to someone who was sympathetic but basically said "sorry we can't help you".

I would stay away from this Black & Decker toaster appliance, the 700 series anyway, since they aren't really traditional "Black & Decker" high quality anymore.
