Black & Decker Spacesaver Toaster Oven —

After more years than I ever expected, our Black & Decker Toaster Oven finally stopped working. We bought it in Ohio 14 years ago and moved it to Minnesota when we moved here 10 years ago. When we went to replace it, I was pleased to see that the only under counter model available was another Black & Decker. It has different features than our last one, but this one will work out fine.

First it is larger than it looked at first glance. It holds 6 slices of bread as compared to the 4 slices the old one held. For a family of 6 this is a definite improvement. It works on a timer so now the kids can't leave it on for hours after they have removed their snack from the oven and forgetten to turn it off. It toasts, bakes and warms but it does not Broil. This is an improvement because the broil function of the older model often sparked and flashed when cooking. It never caught fire but the new one is definitely safer. It did not come with any cooking trays or pans but it holds an 8" cake pan or a 9" inch pie tin with no difficulty. The toaster is more flexible in it's temperature settings and can be set to different time settings when toasting offering more possiblities when toasting. Now a buttered bagel or english muffin don't have to be toasted 2 or three times depending on how dark the person wants it. The Black & Decker Spacesaver is just what we needed.
