Black & Decker One-Touch Chopper Review

this little machine is my new best friend.  i've moved into a smaller apartment and don't have the counter space i've been used to for so long, so the big, bulky processors were out of the question.  also, i'm a vegetarian and cook only for myself.

i like to do research before making a purchase (tipping my wig to the interwebs) and after reading so many reviews that my eyes were starting to cross, i settled on this little black & decker one-touch chopper model EHC650.  it has two speeds; fast and quite a bit faster.  due to its size and capacity, there are, naturally, certain things one would be wise to not try with it.  crushing ice, for example, is not advisable.  but it's excellent for chopping vegetables, blending small amounts of sauces or spreads, etc.  i've even made hummus with it. 

there's a removable plastic bottom that doubles as a cover for the bowl if you need to store what you've processed.  the bowl and blade are easy to clean.  the chopper top/motor can't be immersed in water, but it's not difficult to clean if it's just held upright over an empty sink while the base of it is wiped with a wet towel, then dried.  i do this with the water running.

my passion for this chopper recently grew when i found out that if you put frozen sliced bananas into it and take 'em for a spin, they develop into a chilly, fluffy mousse-like substance.  dessert! 

a few very important points:  do not over-fill the bowl.  do not run the chopper continuously for more than one minute.  the instructions  -  included  -  are very clear.  if they are followed and you honor the machine's limits, it may become your new best friend, too.
