I bought this product because I was tired of trying to get a gas weedeater to start. It would usually take several pulls. Using a corded weedeater was out of the question because I would have had to use two extensions and dragging 130 feet of cord was not my idea of fun. I bought my weedeater back in 2006 and I must have been lucky to have gotten a good battery because mine will last me through the whole yard, which takes 30-40 minutes to do.
Overall I am quite satisfied with the performance of this product.
June 20, 2009 update:
My current rating for this item is a "1" and only because of the battery. I originally rated this product after I had used it for a year (2007). I was impressed with it. The overall concept still impresses me. It is the battery life that has soured me.
Do not waste your money on this model or ANY cordless string trimmers. I sit here today once again comparing string trimmers.
Here is the gist: This particular model is great when it works. My one and only complaint with it is the battery. This would have been my third season with this machine and the battery is completely dead. It will cost me$40.00 + tax for the purchase of a new battery and then approximately another $20.00 to have the battery changed out. That is $60.00 to replace a battery for a machine that cost me originally $90.00. Not a good investment! The battery should last longer than 2 years. So if you have money to throw away, this is a great string trimmer when it works. As for me I will go out and purchase a cheap corded string trimmer and hope it last more than a couple of seasons.
