The hubby and I were so excited when we came across the Black and Decker Grass Hog, 12" Weed Trimmer.  With an 18-volt battery and an extra battery thrown in for free, we thought we were taking home a quality product.

I am giving it three stars only because we've been able to appreciate the grass trimming it can do for... twenty minutes.  If we're lucky.

Since we have a large yard, our only option with weed whacking was to purchase a gas-powered one or string three extension cords together to reach the end of our fence.  The hubby nixed both, so this was the option we were hoping would be a great solution.  It works fine for a very short time.  So we have to plan our strategy each time we go out to tackle the grass growing in odd places.  We carefully calculate how to attack the grass in each area and then we say a prayer that the two batteries can hold out long enough to annihilate the grass.

Would I purchase this again?  I honestly don't know.  I think it needs a battery overhaul before I'd consider it.  The device can slice the grass down but has difficulty attacking the weeds.  So there's no way you'd be able to clear out an area with thick grass and weeds.
