I first bought a Black & Decker cordless electric mower about 10 years ago in a local exchange program for my gas mower. I couldn't believe how easy it was to use and maintain! Just plug it into the wall and it charges overnight. Insert a key, pull a lever and away you mow! One hand height adjustment and a good grass catcher are the other pros.
Now for the cons- The motor isn't the stongest and the battery life is only good for a medium size yard. At my first house I couldn't mow both the front and backyard on a single charge, which meant it was a two day job. Also the battery only lasted me about 3 mowing seasons then I had to shell out over $100 for a new one and then install it which was quite difficult. Also the tires didn't last long, neither did the foam hand grips.
If you consider the trade offs between little to no maintenance, no pollution, vs having to replace a battery every few years I still think it's a better deal.
