The Black and Decker 12 Volt Cordless Trimmer/Edger is not a bad buy, especially for someone like me who has trouble handling the power of a gas trimmer. :) This trimmer/edger comes with it's charger, is cordless, and will do weed trimming and edging. The guard turns, depending on whether you are trimming weeds, or doing edging. Just follow the instructions on how to turn it. This product does a fairly good job at both (we really like the edging feature!), as long as the charge holds strong. Once the charge starts weaning, so does the ability to cut the weeds (especially in thicker areas). But, this is true with any electric cordless trimmer - those charges only hold so long. So whether this trimmer would be a good product for you would, in my opinion, depend on just how much trimming/edging you need to do at one time. In my case, most of the time one charge will do the job, so I'm happy with this product.
