I am not buying it!

3

Having had good experience with the Black & Decker products in the past, I bought Black & Decker D2020 Iron. I used this iron for over a year and experienced no issues initially except for one fine day, it stopped working altogether. This is an easy to use iron which comes with all the basic features and temperature adjustments. It has an in built water sprayer too, which makes ironing the cotton clothes all the way easy. It worked at it's best for the initial months, then started to show it's true colors. The problems varied from water leakage to turning off while working. While surfing the internet to look if it's only me who had these issues, I was surprised to find there were many complaints against this product which included the fire too. I was extra cautious using this iron thereafter, until one fine day it finally stopped working and I was so relieved. Ironic, right?

Awesome iron

This is just an awesome iron! This iron was given to my husband when he went off to college several years ago. I began using after we got married. This is a great iron! It heats up quickly, and does a great job of getting the wrinkles out. The steam option is great and keeps my husband's work clothes looking sharp and crisp. My husband works in an occupation where dress clothes every day is a must. Instead of paying ridiculous fees for dry cleaning we use this iron to keep him looking sharp. This iron has helped us save so much money and for a family on one income with two kiddos that is such a blessing! It's a pretty decent price to boot! In addition to these great features, this iron also has an auto shut off. Super awesome! Our family has had a great experience with this iron and it's lasted quite a few years. We would recommend it to anyone in the market for a new iron that doesn't want to break the bank.

not such a great product

2

Of all the irons I've owned in this lifetime, this Black & Decker D2020 Iron rates somewhere above horrible and below okay. It's cute, and I love the blueish-green see through part of it. Makes it look modern and fun. But that's pretty much where the good things stop. This iron leaks water out of it. And not just small amounts of water. This baby leaks copious amounts of water. I'll be ironing some pants and all of a sudden it looks like I've ran though a sprinkler. It's odd really. I have no idea exactly where the water is coming out of, but it's annoying enough that I stopped using this iron and promptly bought a new, and different brand of one. It's likely that I got a lemon and that this iron isn't the worst one around. But on the off chance that this is just a horribly made iron, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know. I won't be buying a Black & Decker product again anytime soon, that's for sure.

Great for any quilter!

5

As a quilter, I am continually using the iron, walking away for awhile, then returning to iron a few more seams. This iron is ideal for anyone ironing seams flat. Performance This iron produces great heat. I've never had anything not press well. My seams press open, or to the side easily with just one press of the iron. Safety This iron is fairly safe as far as irons go. Naturally, you don't want to hold your hand against the heated portion. However, it's safe enough. Ease of Cleaning I actually managed to cover the iron with fusible web (pathetic...I know). Needless to say, I was heartbroken thinking that my iron was ruined. However, between damp paper towels and dryer sheets (crazy, but it works!) I was able to clean it completely. Ease of Use It's fairly self-explanatory. Just connect it to a power source, permit the iron to heat, and press your fabric. Durability It has survived a few falls onto carpeted floor, and it still works great. Design The iron has a sleek and colorful design that makes it a fun addition to my sewing room.

Black Decker makes my husband black and blue

2

I can't figure out why but each time my husband uses the steam feature on my iron he ends up completely frustrated. We are on our 2nd Black and Decker iron. The first one made him so angry he threw it out. For some reason when the steam feature is turned on the iron leaks water all over the ironing board leaving spots on freshly laundered clothes. He's not a happy customer. Performance Something is not working right with the steam feature. It irons well otherwise, but leaks all over when the steamer is turned on. Safety I'm always concerned the cord with get melted by heat from the iron plate. Durability Heavy duty and durable. It's well made and easy to use.

Good iron for the price

I must admit, I never thought there was much difference in irons as I do not use one too much . When ours finally died, I went out and bought this iron. I was pleasantly surprised with how hot it got, how smooth it irons, the good size, and the automatic shut off mechanism. Performance Hot and effective Safety Auto shut off features give me comfort. Ease of Cleaning I have not had to clean it much. Ease of Use Simple to use. Durability So far, have only owned for one year. Design Handle is comfortable size for me, an average size woman.

Perfect little iron!

5

This is a very basic, but very useful iron. I've had it for over 2 years and have had no problems with it, despite fairly heavy use. Heats and cools off quickly. Performance It gets the job done--no complaints. Safety No different than any other typical iron. I do not believe there is an auto-shut off on this. Ease of Cleaning I've never had to clean it, but I suppose it would easy to wipe down. Ease of Use Very simple to use. Heats and cools off quickly. Durability 2+ years and still going strong! Design Handles well and is very lightweight.

My Black & Decker Iron is a work horse! No problems in 3 yrs

5

Well, it finally happened...after 16 years of marriage, one of our wedding gifts was a iron.  Recently, our new dog knocked over my ironing board and the side got hit pretty hard.  Once I filled it with water, the leaks began.  It was coming out faster than I could put it in!  I wanted to replace it, but couldn't find that brand in these modern days.   I already own several Black and Decker products that never let me down and are true work horses.  I even have a toaster oven that was also a wedding gift and still going strong!  So after shopping around for a high quality and price valued iron, I found my new Black and Decker Iron.  It is just perfect for me.  I have carpal tunnel and my new iron is light weight, easy to fill and I love the 'burst of steam' it has for those tough spots.  I can't speak highley enough on any of the Black and Decker line of products....but my iron is now one of my favorite toys and I don't even like to iron! Performance works like a charm. Steams great, no rusty spotting. Heats up to temperature quickly. No need to press down hard on the iron to get out a stuborn wrinkle, just hit the 'blast of steam' button. I use distilled water only and drain it out after it's use. I give my Black and Decker Iron a 5-star rating for quality, ease of use and again, Black and Decker stands behind its products. Can't go wrong with high quality! Safety Very safe. Seems not to tip over as easily as my old iron had done. Steam doesn't shoot up from the sides and get near your hand. Cord is long enough to put the extra length up and away from pets. It also has an automatic shut off should it be left on without movement. Ease of Cleaning this iron has a built in 'self clean' button. Before each use, I wait until the unit is up to temperature, then hit the 'self clean' button and rub the iron on a towel to remove any particles that may have accumalted in between uses. I rarely see anything come out, I do use as stated earlier distilled water, but my old iron would leave brown stains on my clothes when I'd hit the extra steam button. Ease of Use although it is a full sized iron, it is very light weight and easy to use. I have carpal tunnal in both wrists but now with my Black and Decker, super efficient iron that is light weight I am able to do a load of ironing without much flare-up. Durability once again is it's durability. Like before, my dog ran by and hit the leg of my ironing board and the iron fell over and then hit on the table. Not a dent, no damage to the iron or my table (it landled on a placematt). The material used seems to be very high quality plastic of some sort, easy to wipe off, and able to withstand 2 mischievious dogs occasionallly playing 'chase' and hit the ironing board! Design oh, sleek, modern, easy to identify what each button does. It has a nice opening for putting water in.

This Black and Decker iron is the absolute best iron ever. My daughter and I both iron everything and both love it. The settings on the iron cover every type of material. It is  very durable yet light in weight. We have worn ours out from so much use after several years of use and will replace with the same produt. Would highly reccommend to anyone.

If You Have to Iron - This Is the Iron to Use

5

With my new job came new responsibilities, and a work environment where even my male coworkers showed up in crisply pressed shirts and pants. I have resisted ironing all my life, but I have grown tired of not having nicely pressed outfits, so after a disastrous encounter with a fifteen year old iron, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new one. I read positive reviews of the D2030 by Black & Decker on Consumer Reports, but only found the **B&D D2020** at Target, so I bought it instead.**About the Black & Decker D2020**The D2020 is a "Digital Advantage" model iron from Black & Decker. It has a backlit digital display that you set each time you iron. It beeps when the iron has heated up to that setting. The iron has a spray and steam button, and a stainless steal soleplace. The look of the iron is very sleek, with a frosted translucent water tank so you can see the water level in the iron. The handle is made of a special "comfort grip" material, and the iron itself isn't too heavy. Still, not knowing what exactly to expect from a "good iron" I didn't know what all of these features really meant to me.**Using the D2020**I wash my work clothes once a week, usually on a Sunday. By Sunday evening I have no desire to iron, but I pulled out my new D2020 and gave it a whirl anyway. The iron was easy to fill with water, using the included water cup. It heated up quickly once I set it to the cotton setting, and I loved that the iron beeped to let me know when it was ready. As far as heft, this iron feels about average. It doesn't feel particularly light or heavy. I began ironing and when it came time to crease my pants, I hit the steam button. The iron made a loud *POOOOOOOOF!!!!* sound as steam burst forth with an intensity that I'd never seen before.Cool.I was thrilled at the steam function, and after pressing one pair of pants, I grabbed a second and hit the creases with steam on them as well. From downstairs my husband said, "What was that?" after hearing the woosh of steam. I said, "It's the iron." My husband actually came upstairs to see what all the wooshing was about. When he saw the iron in action, he went and grabbed a pair of *his* pants, because he wanted to try it.Fabric doesn't stick to the iron, and I make sure to wipe the sole plate down after each use with a soaked rag, to make sure that no starch gets stuck to the slick surface.**Cat's Bottom Line**Ironing is not fun, by any means, but this iron does such a great job (and is so cool doing it) that even my husband has started ironing his own clothes. I'll even catch him ironing on the weekend, after I've finished laundering our work clothes. This iron is a winner, in particular because of the steam function. It's so powerful that it makes ironing easy, and if like me, you find yourself occasionally ironing a bad crease into a shirt, a simple straighten of the material and a couple of hits with the powerful steam, makes the errant crease go right away.I still hate to iron, but now, I hate it just a little bit less. And my clothes look fabulous too!
