Doesn't heat food like it's supposed to

3

I puchased the Infrawave when it first appeared as I was looking for a toaster oven at that time.  Reviews were mixed with several people complaining that food had to be reheated a second time but hoping to be one of the lucky ones, I purchased the Infrawave anyway.  Unfortunately mine was one of those that does not heat food up adequately.  Sure, you can take a steak out of the freezer, put it in the oven and "cook" the frozen steak.  Just do it 2-3 more times than instructed or you'll be breaking your teeth on lovely frozen meat.  It just doesn't cook the way the infomercial would have you believe.  Toasts fine though!

Achieve superior browning and crisping 10. Cook up to 50% faster with no pre-heating  **Tech Specs**Cooks up to 50 percent faster than a conventional oven with no pre-heating Unique infrared technology cooks food perfectly Appropriate for all foods that can be baked in a conventional oven Even cooking on all food types Superior browning and crisping 52 digital pre-settings for one-touch ease Includes two trays, a slide rack and a handle to pull the trays out   Sounds good, no?  Eh, not so good.  The infrared heats up alright in fact it comes close to broiling temps within a few seconds.  When it gets hot, it's hot.  In fact it would burn almost anything in it within 2 minutes or less.  So what they do is have a thermostat that turns it on and off constantly in order to create a mean temperature which is fairly constant.  But you have to be careful. Anything with a high sugar content is likely to burn unless you watch it carefully.  Until you know how it cooks specific items you need to be close by.  The unit was discontinued but it's still out there.  i think they created it to compete with the Nu-Wave cooker but that unit has a fan on it and this doesn't, so no cigar.
