Black & Decker 18" Electric Mulching Mower —
I thought the Black and Decker Cordless Elerdlctrical lawn mower would be the solution to all my mowing problems. No polution, no buying high priced gasoline, no jerking on a cord to start, which I have no strength in my hands from Arthritis, no dragging cord, and no oil to check. It was alittle bit more expensive than the gas mowers, but it would be worth it for the convenience and it's green characteristics. It worked fine for about four mowings. Then, it either wouldn't charge or it wouldn't stay charged. I don't know which. I am not supposed to know those things, because I am electronically challenged. But, the problem was, neither did the Sears maintainence service center here in Lawton. They asked, "did I put oil in it, was it out of gas"? I had already told them, it was electric. The only thing they knew to do was to send it off to Dallas or Fort Worth to be worked on. Now that didn't get me a dependable lawn mower that I needed to mow with every week. So, you see until we are able to get people trained in the maintainence of electric lawn mowers in our own local areas, electric lawn mowers are not the green solution to our lawn care, we hoped it would be. It wouldn't matter what brand was purchased, they all need upkeep. I did enjoy it while it worked. It was lightweight, but it was still harder to maneuver than a self propelled gas mower. I didn't have a large lawn, but several times it failed to start again after stopping it to go through the back yard gate. Evidently, it took alot of battery power to stop and restart.
