Good standard coffee maker

4

I have used this Black and Decker coffee maker for about 14 months now. It is decent in the world of basic programmable coffee makers. The carafe is easy to fill and the reservoir can be filled without spilling much, if any, water. It is also easy to clean and keep clean. The basket that holds the coffee is easy to access and fill without making a mess. The programmable feature is decent. It is a pain to click the buttons so many times in order to set the clock and program the scheduled start time but I have found that to be the case for just about every inexpensive programmable coffee maker I have ever used. I groan every single time the power flickers off and I have to reset the clock and timer. My only word of caution - if you have hard water, you will have to run a vinegar cycle frequently (at least once a month, if not more) to prevent mineral build-up that slows the coffee making process considerably. I use filtered water and I still have a difficult time keeping this clean. Otherwise the output will end up being far less than the water you put it - the coffee maker will struggle so much that you end up with a lot of steam and not much else (and the gurgling noise will drive you crazy).

Good Quality

I've had this coffee pot for over 4 years and have no complaints about it! Brew Performance It brews quickly. Does well with coffee, espresso, and tea. It keeps it at a very good temperature. It's not too hot nor too cold. Ease of Cleaning I find coffee pots in general hard to maintain (too many nooks and crannies). Cleans up nice if you run vinegar through it. Basket comes out so I can just rinse it out and not need a million filters. Ease of Use I love the basket feature. I do not need those expensive coffee filters and don't have to waste them! Design It's your standard coffee pot. No bells or whistles. I do like the fact that if I forget it, after a designated time it will shut off and that's with no programming at all! You can also program start times and shut off times. Durability As stated above, I've had this coffee pot for over 4 years and have seen my in-laws and parents go through coffee pot after coffee pot. But I still have the one my dad gave me when I moved out!

Effective and stylish but could be cleaner

This coffee maker is great to just set a brew, let it go and come back to enjoy your coffee when ready. I go for a basic cup of coffee over some of the fancier styles and machines out there and this does the job well. It does brew thoroughly and is very easy to use. The design in sleek, neat and current. Not a fan of trying to clean it up. The coffee grind excess does throw around within the machine and it can be bit of a peeve to see the machine in such a fashion. For those that are a bit of a neat freak, like me, I would prefer an easier to clean machine vs one which I feel I have to deep clean daily. Ease of Cleaning Interior and crevices wind up collecting coffee grinds. Not always easiest to clean out daily. Ease of Use Very simple and straight forward. For brewing without timer you simply push a button. Design Very clean an sleek looking. Durability I don't over handle my appliances and it seems to still be in great condition. Only concern is the lid hinges on both parts. They do not seem like they will withstand repeated daily use over the long haul.

Not very reliable, expect it to burn out quickly

1

I wouldn't recommend this coffee maker to anyone that drinks coffee more than once a week. I had it for less than a month before the heating element went out and I only brewed a half of a pot of coffee per day. My replacement made it for 1 1/2 months before burning out. It has some really promising features like the permanent filter it comes with, the "clean" indicator, and the 1-4 cup option, but there are better options for the same price. Ease of Cleaning Most parts are dishwasher safe.

Worst machine I've ever dealt with!

1

This drips just like everyone else says. I couldn't believe it when I found all these reviews, I thought it was just me! Also I've had to take off the bottom panel twice now to mess with the buttons to get them to work. Also sometimes if you hit program it will start the machine rather than do what it's supposed to do. I hate dealing with this machine! Brew Performance When it will turn on!

Worst pot ever!

buy something else. Cannot get water into it without dribbling all over the counter, and cannot pour a cup without dribbles on the counter. After two weeks it went in the garbage and I bought another (different) coffee maker.

You have to replace the carafe on this B&D Coffeemaker!

Most of the features on this B&D coffeemaker work just fine. The original carafe though leaves a lot to be desired! In fact, toss it immediately and get the replacement carafe and put the 2nd lid on that comes with it. I had problems with the cleaning program. When I followed the instructions in the manual, the program did not run at all like it said it would. I put in the vinegar and then the water to make 10 cups, put that into the coffeemaker, put a filter in, turned it on and then held the program button for about 2 seconds. The coffeemaker ran just as it normally does to make a pot of coffee. I tossed the cleaning solution and put 10 cups of water with lemon juice in it in the coffeemaker, pushed the program button for about 2 seconds, the machine turned on, made about 3 cups of hot water, paused about 30 minutes, then it put the rest of the water through. Only, it was supposed to shut off and it never did, not even after the 2 hour auto-shut off was supposed to kick in. I had to unplug it for a minute or so in order for it to shut off and stay off. Not sure if I'll use the cleaning program again. Due to just the problems I had with the machine, I would not recommend it to anyone else, unless they buy the replacement carafe before leaving the store with the coffeemaker and they don't want to use the cleaning program.

Counter Coffee

I will give credit to the features on this model. I like the programmable start, the clean indicator and the ease of setting the time, this product gets a huge negative for the coffee pot itself. Whether you are filling the water reservoir or pouring your coffee, the pot drips terribly. Even after complaining and receiving a new carafe, we sill have the problem of coffee dripping all over the counter instead of in my cup. It really is ridiculous the amount of coffee that drips. Make sure you have a paper towel handy to wipe up the mess left after pouring your morning cup of joe.

B&D Coffeemaker CM1010 = great coffee maker for great price

We had to replace our coffee maker in April of 2010 and so I went shopping for an inexpensive programmable coffee maker.  We have not had good luck lately with this type of coffee maker (the buttons would stick) and figured that since they all seem to break let's spend less money this time.  This Black & Decker coffee maker has been great for us.  The buttons are easy to push and clean; some other makers had buttons that would stick and make it very difficult to use.  A feature that I like about this coffee maker is the permanent filter.  We can use a paper filter or just use the permanent filter and clean between brews;  this can save money and consumables.  Another thing that I have come to love is that when it is unplugged for a short time - up to 30 seconds- it doesn't reset.  There have been a few times when it has been accidently unplugged or the power has flickered and this is one of the few appliances that I don't have to reset the time on.  The carafe is heavy duty glass and has held up well to our constant and sometimes not so gentle use.  If anyone asked me, I'd recommend this coffee maker to them;  it's inexpensive, easy to clean and so far has worked wonderfully.

My 12-cup Programmable Black & Decker Coffemaker really brews.

There's nothing like the wake up call of freshly brewed coffee! The removable basket allows easy filling of ground coffee the night before. The water is easy to measure and pour, too. The sneak a cup feature is great if you don't want to wait until the brewing finishes. The coffee is always hot! The only thing I don't like is that the coffee drips down the side of the carafe. Have something handy to clean the spill.  I hope the company changes the design to something more user friendly. I like a coffeepot that reminds me when it's time to deep clean it with vinegar. The green light starts flashing at the 60th pot brewed. If it gets unplugged, however, the count starts over. My husband was reading my review and said he'd fix that drippy problem. So he shaved or filed some of the plastic material away from the edges of the pour spout on each side, inside near the area where the lid meets the rim. Voila!! A dripless pour. Works for me!
