My husband decided a few weeks ago that we needed a spot cleaner for our carpet. He settled on the Bissell SpotBot, but when we went to the store the only non-busted box available contained the Bissell SpotBot Pet cleaner. Reading back and forth across both labels, we discerned that the SpotBot Pet was identical in function to the original SpotBot. The only difference was the blue exterior (as opposed to the green), the cute pet logo (awww) and the fact that the cleaner it came with was a pet-specific cleaner instead of their regular carpet cleaner.

Using the SpotBot
We set up the SpotBot as soon as we brought it home. Out of the box we simply filled it up per the instructions for the cleaner we were using (the Oxy cleaning solution has different water ratios) and took it upstairs to the latest spot where our dog had upchucked the cat food she snuck into a few weeks earlier. We had cleaned the surface area but the spot was still there and it looked horrible.

We set the spot cleaning ring over as much of the spot as possible, set it on the deep cleaning setting (6 minutes) and watched in fascination as it did its thing, pumping in just the right amount of cleaning solution. Six minutes later, it beeped to let us know it was done. The second tank was filled with dirty solution (ewww) and the spot was gone! It looked fantastic, and was only the slightest bit damp.

Downsides to the SpotBot
The only issue we've found with the SpotBot is that it goes through cleaning solution fairly quickly. The initial bottle of solution that came with the SpotBot filled up the first tank. Fortunately we read a tip elsewhere that large bottles of Bissell cleaning solution (advertised for full size cleaners) could be found at BJ's.

Cat's Bottom Line
The SpotBot Pet does a great job on household spots and spills. We love our SpotBot and I'd recommend it to anyone who has carpets that occasionally need a little light spot cleaning!

After the older spots are gone, it would be great to use this since most carpet manufacturers tell you to use only straight hot water when cleaning spots. I work for a church facilities management group and we clean once a year with chemical, the rest of the time with straight hot water, sometimes just a tad of vinegar mixed in.

I agree about the use of cleaning fluid. I've also found that feathering the edges of the cleaned circle makes the circle of clean less noticeable later.

Thanks Cat. I was wondering if it was any good. I use the Bissell Proheat for my carpet. It does a pretty good job.
