UGH, wish I had listened to reviews I had read on the target website before I had bought this product..I purchased it expecting it to do just what it said it would. This vacuum has to be the absolute worst product I have purchased.

From the very first time I used this vacuum, half the time it only pushed the hair around the carpet. I kept telling myself that it was a less expensive vacuum, so I would of course have to go over the carpet a few extra times, but I never expected it to look like I never even vacuumed after I was done. This machine clogged on dog hair the first time I used it, just fine straight dog hair, wasn't even a hairball. This should have been a sign, it continued to clog everytime I used it (and the clogs just got worse every time and seemed difficult to reach them since they were always half way up the tube, or just inside the hole in the vacuum. I never had enough good results with any of the attachments, they would not lift up the dog hair that the makers said it would. In less than a month use, when I turned the machine off, dirt would come back out of the vaccuum when I picked it up in the off postion (it didn't even get picked up and sucked up into the cup while the vaccum was on).

While this vacuum had many filters, even they clogged with almost every use. I do not have a dirty home, just normal everyday cleaning was what I was looking for. I was so upset with this vacuum, that I contacted Bissell about it, I felt it was "defective" and they might replace it..I found no support whatsoever with Bissell, even though I had registered, and it claimed a warranty. I timed myself one morning, and it took over an hour for me to vacuum just the living room in my home-over 45 min. of that was spent on the floor every 6 or 6 min. with a broom handle, and a medal rod, that I had to use to unclog the machine enough to at least pick up a small amount of hair and dirt. As time went on, the vacuum got worse. I would take the filters out to clean them like it recommended, soon it got to the point that the filters just would not stay snapped in the cup, and the others just blew dust everywhere..eventually, in order to use it at all I had to remove all the filters.

I am not sure which i was disappointed with more, the vacuums performance, or Bissell's lack of customer service that didn't stand behind their product, offer to fix it, replace the product, or even return emails! Before you think that it totally turned me against Bissell I have to add that I did my research on the vacuum I replaced this one with (4 months after I bought it), and I purchased the Bissell Healthy Home vac..I am thrilled with my new one and it looks like the only home my previous Bissell with have is the trash can since no one I know wants to inherit my headache!

In response to doc2714's comment from Jun 2, 2008 at 2:56PM:

I had to laugh after reading your comment. I finally found something that the vac was good at. At the moment, it is holding open my screen door while paint is drying on the steps. So, unfort. for me, it still darkens my doorstep! I have to be honest and say that I left the dang thing outside on two different occas. the 1st, garbage day, they would't take it, and second was just after I wrote that review, thought if I was lucky someone might just "take" it..no one will even steal the thing! I have gotten no answer from Bissell about this product whatsoever. I don't want another one, just want my money back or credit, anything.

Amen! See the comment I made to AnnShamrocks review:(I wonder if we are talking about the same machine. I'm on my third unit and the best one of the three lasted about two uses when the(flimsy) plastic housing cracked in a tragic vacuum/ table leg collision. The first one broke as soon as I plugged it in. Smoked so much that the smoke detector sounded and the fire department came! The second unit actually BLEW air out of the suction port! I wondered in retrospect, Why didn't ANY of the three suck as good as this one blew!? Needless to say, I got my money back. I would be ashamed to have that god-forsaken machine darken the doorstep of anybody I know. I have two words for Bissell...Store Credit!)
Way to call it!
