I'm on my second Bissell Pet Vac in 6 months and I'm waiting for Bissell to send me a third.  The first one worked for about a month.  I took it back when it stopped sucking crumbs from the carpet.  Thankfully I could exchange it at the store.  Last weekend, just two hours before my company was to arrive, my vacuum stopped working. The brush stopped rotating so I turned it off to see what was wrong and it wouldn't turn on after that.  I waited a day and it turned back on but there was no suction and when the brush stopped rotating again I turned it off and tried to turn it on but it won't turn on.  I called Bissell and they won't refund my money.  They wanted me to take it to their service center but the closest one is an hour away.   They're sending me a third vacuum.  I'm sure this one will die too.  This vacuum is junk.  It just shoots items across the room on hard floors and the hose it so short that when you try to use it the vacuum just falls on top of you.  I hate this thing and wish I could get my money back.  Hopefully this will save you from throwing $200 down the drain.  I'm not the only one who has had these problems.  There are many on the Target website reviews of this vacuum that have had the same problem.  My $20 Hoover worked better than this!

Bissell didn't even send me the same machine to replace my hunk of junk. They sent me one that costs $20 less. When I tried to talk to customer service the girl kept asking me questions that were clearly scripted and she wasn't listening to what I was telling her. She kept thinking I was calling for the first time to get my vacuum fixed when I was really calling to figure out why they didn't send me the vacuum I paid for. I went back and forth with her forever and pretty much went insane trying to explain my situation. I called my husband after the ordeal and was so mad I could barely speak. He thought I'd lost it. I finally just gave up and kept the less expensive vacuum because it was working and I'd been without a vac for a month. This one worked all of two months before the suction quit. I've cleaned my filters and done everything they say to do. We're going to try and replace the belt but we've been looking at Kenmores and I'm probably going to buy one.

Amen! See the comment I made concerning AnnShamrocks review on this $169.00 hunk of junk..."i wonder if we are talking about the same machine. I'm on my third unit and the best one of the three lasted about two uses when the(flimsy) plastic housing cracked in a tragic vacuum/ table leg collision. The first one broke as soon as I plugged it in. Smoked so much that the smoke detector sounded and the fire department came! The second unit actually BLEW air out of the suction port! I wondered in retrospect, Why didn't ANY of the three suck as good as this one blew!? Would have been a great leaf blower and almost as loud! Needless to say, I got my money back. I would be ashamed to have that god-forsaken machine darken the doorstep of anybody I know. I have two words for Bissell...Store Credit!" What can I say? We call 'em like we see 'em. Sometimes I wonder if these people actually try using the products they review.
