I have been researching vacuums for about 6 months now. The Bissell PET VAC was by far the most popular on the web as far as GOOD REVIEWS. I am pleased to say today I went to Target and finally made my purchase (approx $169.00). Even more pleased to say THE GOOD REVIEWS WERE RIGHT!! THIS VACUUME SUCKS (in the good way!!) LOL. It took me only about 10 minutes to assemble it. Very easy instructions and you only need a screwdriver for 2 small screws.

I plugged it in and the motor was fairly quiet.  I was nervous for about 1 minute as it did not seem to be doing anything?            Until I hit the "Brush" switch. and VOOOM as if it kicked into overdrive I could feel the power or the dirt being sucked into the bag less canister! After only 5 minutes I turned it off to see the canister was FULL of gross grey dirt and dog hair which only proved to me how nasty my carpets have been all this time.  I wanted to wait to buy the right machine. AND I THINK I DID! It's only been one day but I can wait to go home tonight and fire that baby up. 5 STARS!

Ive had it 6 months now. not a problem at all. again the draw back is the small container I have to go outside to empty as not to breath all the dust. But so far im still happy with it. sorry some of you are having problems? could be a faulty factory batch got past Quality Control?!

i wonder if we are talking about the same machine. I'm on my third unit and the best one of the three lasted about two uses when the(flimsy) plastic housing cracked in a tragic vacuum/ table leg collision. The first one broke as soon as I plugged it in. Smoked so much that the smoke detector sounded and the fire department came! The second unit actually BLEW air out of the suction port! I wondered in retrospect, Why didn't ANY of the three suck as good as this one blew!? Would have been a great leaf blower and almost as loud! Needless to say, I got my money back. I would be ashamed to have that god-forsaken machine darken the doorstep of anybody I know. I have two words for Bissell...Store Credit! Sometimes I wonder if these people actually try out the products they review.
