I have to admit that I was unsure about purchasing this vacuum, my prior experience with a Bissell was a let down. I did a great deal of studying before I invested in this vacuum, checking out many sites looking for user reviews, consumer reports etc. I have a home with a 10 and 9 year old, a one year old monster dog who sheds his weight in hair each day, 2 parakets, and a g. pig..not to mention LOTS of dust that blows in from an unlandscaped yard. The vacuum was easy to assemble, took min. While it is a little on the heavier side, I find that while I am using the vacuum, the weight isn't a big deal. A huge plus is the fact that unlike all the other bagless vacs that I've owned, the ones with the hepa filters etc, it doesn't blow dust around and I dont end up sneezing (my 9 year old and I suffer from ashma, and everyone in the house also suffer from allergies). After the first use, I was shocked and appalled at the amount of DIRT that I found in the cup. It cleans great, nothing gets by it, doesn't matter if its on carpet, or floors. I use the attachments a great deal, something I never did with any of my previous vacuums. This vacuum, with its long cord, and attachment hose, reaches everything that is hidden in the cracks, behind furniture, or even fine birdseed hulls that the parakeets spit all over the kitchen floor. I am so happy to finally own a vacuum that does just what it says. I used to have a vacuum that clogged everytime I used it (just on dog hair), this vacuum hasn't clogged on me once! The only con that I can find is emptying the cup..while it says that it isn't messy, when I empty it into the trash dust and dirt still gets away-I loved the idea of just pushing a button to empty the cup, but since it opens at the bottom, you still get dirt on you when you have to use your hands to close the cup. Even with that in mind, and that the cup doesn't always neatly and easily close, it still is cleaner, and does a better job than any vacuum I've owned (bagless or not). I've owned vacuums by Eureka, Dirt Devil, and even spent an ungodly amount of money for a Orek (didn't clean as well at all, and dragging around a separate machine to use attachments was time consuming. The only problem I am having is that it is now making a strange high pitched sound when turn it on, it does stop, but doesn't appear normal.
