The Bottom Line: This is one hard working Bissell. I have had 3 carpet cleaners that leaked or hardly touched the dirt. Bissell's brushes do get the grime out.
My husband saw an ad for this Bissell the day after he bought me a PowerSteamer Pro at Wal-Mart's grand opening at Steelyard Commons for $139. I thought it was a bargain.
Then we see an ad at Big Lots for $80. I was at the store outside the door 30 minutes before they unlocked it. Turns out they have 1 - only 1, so I was allowed in to get it. But it had to be 10:00AM to ring it up, so I sat on it until 10AM. Then a great gentleman put it in the back of my Tucson to take home.
But do not throw anything out. Put the handle on it, unwrapped the cord & the hose. Found the box with the cleaning tool for upholstery & car and snapped that to the end of the hose which it then clips onto the holder on the back of the unit with the hose wrapped along the sides. The cord wraps on the side & can easily slide off when you turn the top holder to unfurl it. So far I like it.
Then to the basement. Knotty pine walls, so beautiful after I took Orange Glow wood treatment to them, is for floors so why not the wood walls. Then we had a tan carpet layed, since brown would make the room look teeny tiny. The fireplace with metal screen needed some cleaning too. So I took the Bissell to the room. After winter grime from snow blowing & his winter snowsuit is on the clothes rack. Then the freezer died & a new front load washer & dryer came also thanks to HH Gregg's employee pricing for good customers. Free same day delivery too. But the black feet of the delivery men just killed the carpet.
So now I have the perfect test for Bissell. One small bottle of Bissell fabric cleaner & a spray bottle of Bissell stain remover. So I take the measuring cup, that also snaps to the back of the unit, to measure the solution. Then I took hot water from the water heater into the unit. No major sudsing I noticed. Then turn it on & away we go & I see a major white area as I went back & forth. IT IS CLEAN! But the black footprints are not lightening. SO husband sprays the spot remover all over them as I refill the tank, dumping out the dirty water & plenty of carpet fuzz. Then I turn it back on again & go over what I have done with the foot prints & they are GONE! SO I finish the whole carpet. I notice the water being pulled from the carpet in the front top area, like a window of water. So I keep going back & forth til I do not see water. Felt the carpet & it was a touch damp but not wet. So we dump the dirty water, rinse everything out & put it back together. Husband is noticing balls of fuzz on the carpet, so he picking them all up & pitched them. But the carpet looks brand new! So the futon with cover & pillows go back on the one wall, the computer desk on the other, with the entertainment center on the back wall.
Then next morning we go down the stairs & see the beautiful basement. Then to Wal Mart to take back the $139 one...... the lady at returns tells me they have 148 oz bottle of Bissell Fabric Cleaner for $15 so I took it. I am one happy lady with a very clean house!
2 days later, I was at a block party at a police officer's home. Great to talk about the unrest in the nieghborhood after robberies & learn the robbers are my new next door neighbors.
One of the gals who had one too many dumped a glass of red wine on lovely Queen Anne chair with white arms & top. The officer's wife was sick & I told him to follow me to my home to get my quick fix. So I brought the Bissell with the stain remover spray & the fabric cleaner that we added half a cup & half the container in hot water. Then I sprayed the spot remover all over the chair & took the attached hose to it. Everyone left just stood & watched this amazing cleaner do its job. In under 10 minutes it was a bit damp but clean.
So now I am the neighborhood heroine thanks to Bissell. I also found the 1248 oz bottle of fabric cleaner at Lowes for $13. Bet you all the gals rans to WalMart to buy one for $138 since they saw it being used. I am a BZZAgent, so I always tell folks when something is great!
