Beak Appetit Cheese Teaser

Beak Appetit Cheese Teaser
selective about pet food, hopelessly in love with my parrots, child-free

Although I prepare a large batch of a homemade cooked food mix for my three parrots each week, I still like to give them something different a couple of times per week as a little treat.  I've been using Beak Appetit cook and serve mixes for a few years now and have been very happy with them.  On my last "spoil the parrots" shopping spree, I picked up a 13.5 ounce bag of Beak Appetit Cheese Teaser which is one version that I hadn't seen or used before. — Beak Appetit Cheese Teaser is a nutritionally-balanced, low-fat cook and serve mix that is suitable for all types of birds,… read full review »

About 14 years ago i saw a little bird in a pet store, it was cheap and looked interesting. I stuck my finger in the cage and it bit me hard drawing blood. the bird had some spunk, I purchased it with my allowance (i was 16) and off i went home. — Little did i know what I would be in for with a Quaker Parrot. i was used to cocktiels and thought this bird would be the same boy was i wrong. — Noise — Destruction — Theft — Bodyguard — Jealously — all the words associated with my quaker bird. I named him Julian and I didnt know Julian was really a girl,… read full review »

Kaytee Spray Millet

My birds have always, always loved millet. It is hard to find a birdseed with lots of millet in it, which my bird prefers over any other seed. We get him millet spray and attach it to the side of the cage so he has lots of the millet that he loves so much, as well as the other seed that he has from his regular feeding. I think keeping your bird healthy and happy is important for a healthy and happy relationship between bird and ownder. The price for the millet spray is awesome as well, it is not expensive at… read full review »

Bird Paradise Ultimate Blend Parrot Food

Bird Paradise Ultimate Blend Parrot Food
child-free, hopelessly in love with my parrots, willing to pay more for quality

JUN

I had been hearing raves about Bird Paradise Ultimate Blend Parrot Food for a couple of years before I finally decided to see what everyone was talking about.  A good friend of mine was visiting their bird superstore in Burlington, NJ so I asked her to pick up a couple of pounds of this dry mix for me.  After using it with my three parrots for a couple of weeks, I have to say that it is probably the best parrot food that I've ever seen. — According to the Bird Paradise web site, Ultimate Blend is a nutritionally-balanced blend of non-colored pellets, human-grade nuts, dried… read full review »

Zupreem fruit flavored pellets are loved by my African grey and white capped Pionus. Each of them has their favorite shape and color pellet. Whenever I change their food dishes all that are left are the small orange round pellets!  It seems that neither one of them like to eat them, even though they are all made from the same ingredients. — … read full review »

I have three spoiled parrots: an Eclectus, a Blue & Gold Macaw, and a Timneh African Grey.  Their diet consists mostly of fresh veggies, fruit, brown rice, and beans with a bit of seed/nut mix as a snack mid-day.  Lately, I've gotten into the habit of giving them a treat each evening before their sunset bedtime.  They usually get Lafeber Nutriberries (including the Sunny Orchard variety) for their treats, but I picked up a bag of Lafeber Nutri-Nuts at PetCo about week ago and have been using them since then.  — According to Lafeber,… read full review »

Although my three parrots eat a diet of mostly fresh foods (rice, beans, veggies, fruits, pasta, etc), I still buy manufactured foods and pellets now and then to offer as a treat.  I knew that the crew really loved regular Nutriberries, so I picked up a bag of Lafeber's Sunny Orchard Nutriberries for them last week.  — This product contains things like corn, millet, oat groats, safflower, soybean meal, wheat, cranberries, apricots, golden raisins, etc.  It also has various vitamin and mineral supplements to ensure that your parrot gets all of the 40 nutrients essential… read full review »

I rescued a cockatiel from the woods near my home some years ago. I asume that she escaped from her previous owner and would have no doubt soon perished if I had not stumbled upon her and took her home with me. I soon discovered that she was a VERY picky eater and I had quite atime finding suitable food for her that she would eat. I bought some of this spray millet and hung it in her cage. Soon she was working away at it and seemed to be having quite a time enjoying not only the food itself but the activity that it gave her to replace some of the boredome of being caged all day… read full review »

I received a 3 ounce sample of Beak Appetit Moist Protein Supplement in one of the last containers of Beak Appetit that I bought.  At first, I kind of wrote it off and tossed it into a drawer.  After a month or so, when their diet had suffered a but due to vacation and wedding preparations, I decided to add this product to their meals in an attempt to assuage my guilt.  — According to the directions, you can add Beak Appetit Moist Protein Supplement to cooked food or sprinkle it on top of pellets or seed mix.  I added the entire 3 ounce bag to a batch of sweet… read full review »

We have a parrot named Bubba! He is the most awesome bird!  He loves warm weather and loves to talk.  He mimmicks my grandma's voice perfectly!  It is so funny, he sounds exactly like her.  One day her and my grandpa were sleeping and someone knocked on the door and he said "come in".  They did come in and looked all over the house, only to find my grandparents sleeping in the bedroom! —  These birds are rather expensive, but the entertainment value alone is worth it! — … read full review »

When it comes to feeding my pet birds and breeders, I approach nutrition for them the same as I do for our food and other pets.  I try to find the best diet available for them that is affodable, of course.  Parrots can be very picky eaters.  Sometimes they have a dislike for a certain color of food or texture just as other animals and humans do.  This makes it a little tricky in finding a seed mixture that all your birds will "like" and eat. — — I purchase this seed mix in a 50 lb. bag at a local pet store that gives discounts to breeders.  This is one… read full review »
