I went to the local aviary to purchase an Umbrella Cockatoo. After asking my lifestyle and work habits, the store owner swayed me over to purchase a Bare Eyed Cockatoo instead. Best advise I'd ever been given, and perfect match! Bare Eyeds (or Little Corellas) are native to Australia and need very little attention to be happy.  Very smart and intuitive, these birds live a long time, so be prepared to make a lifelong commitment when raising them.  My female picks up tricks in a very short time; she was waving and saying "go bye-bye" at just 7 weeks old! She likes to cuddle and knows what "give me a hug" means as she nuzzles my cheek.  Not extremely talkative, but words are annunciated properly.  I can go to work for 8 hours a day, and there was no squawking or scraming when I'm not there, and everything is status quo when I do get home!
