I have been using this mouthwash for about 6 years. I had a situation where I started getting a dry mouth. Come to find out, if was some medication that I was taking. My dental hygienist put me onto this mouthwash. The main strengths of this mouthwash is its ability to kill germs, reduce dry mouth and protect my teeth. It does not have that astringent harsh taste. I don't know what the ingredient is that makes this mouthwash so gentle but it definitely moisturizes your mouth. There is a pull-up spout on the top of the lid. I just pour out the amount that I want without unscrewing the top. Very easy. If I chose one word to describe this mouthwash, it would be "smooth". It gives you that refreshed feeling like you just drank your favorite drink to quince your thirst.

I have chronic dry mouth and this has been a lifesaver. I use it three times a day and I do not experience any more dryness or cotton mouth. Most mouthwashes burn and sting my gums and teeth. I have a sensitive mouth in general and not only does it not irritate my mouth, it also cured my dry mouth. I use this along with the biotene toothpaste and I couldnt be happier. I can not use any other mouthwash. I just wish it would make my breath fresh, it doesnt really do that for me. But it is very gentle on your mouth.

Imagine having a very dry mouth all hours of the day and a thirst that never seems quenched. Biotene Mouthwash with Calcium is a great mouthwash to use and is especially formulated for dry mouths. I have used it for awhile and it gets the job done by cleaning your mouth really well without burning it at all in the process (unlike some other mouthwash brands do). It also leaves your mouth with a nice, minty fresh scent that isn't too overpowering. Also, it's very quick and easy to use so that it doesn't take that much time out of your day. If you can buy the bottle with the squirt cap on it as well, then you can just squirt the mouthwash directly into your mouth without having to pour and measure it out first (which can help prevent messes in the bathroom). However, it would be better if it had fluoride added to it as well so that it would help to prevent cavities a little bit better (as other mouthwashes like ACT Anti-cavity Mouthwash have in them). Biotene still makes a quality mouthwash though.

Because of the many medications I am on, I suffer from dry mouth. No matter how much I brushed, flossed, or rinsed, it seemed I was always getting baby cavities. My dentist reccommended using Biotene mouthwash with calcium and let me tell you, it has worked wonders for me! The taste is pleasant and not over powering. I rinse multiple times a day not only because I know it is helping, but also because I enjoy the taste! Who can say that about a mouthwash? Not many, I am sure. This stuff really works for dry mouth. Not only does it help my mouth feel better, the added calcium is working to strengthen the enamel on my teeth. My dentist noticed how much stronger my teeth seemed at my last cleaning, and I had NO cavities or even the start of cavities! That is proof enough for me that this stuff works. Even if you don't suffer from dry mouth, this is an excellent product. Good ingredients, and excellent benefits! Try it out today!

I recently bought this mouthwash as I had a coupon for it and it was also on sale. It is alcohol free which keeps the mouthwash from burning your mouth as some others do. Although mouthwash with alcohol does not bother me, it does some people so if you are sensitive to that then this mouthwash is a nice alternative. It is a little more expensive than some other name brand mouthwash products but it is worth it. It leaves your mouth feeling clean and fresh and at the same time it kills the bacteria that causes bad breath and plaque build up. It works as well if you suffer from a dry mouth and if you get mouth sores it helps with that as well . I don't know if I will regularly use this as it is a bit more expensive but if it is on sale or I have a coupon I will definitely buy it. I recommend it to all ages except children as they may not like the taste of the mint. Overall it is a very effective alcohol free mouthwash.

I don't have xerostomia or anything, so maybe this product feels appropriate for someone with an actual diagnosed problem, but for me I found Biotene Mouthwash to feel and taste weird. I have a bottle of it because I received it as a gift for Christmas because all of my friends were aware of my recent re-dedication to my oral health efforts, so I think he bought it because it was pricey and so he assumed it was good. And it probably when experiencing a dry mouth, but it isn't a typical mouthwash to be used after tooth brushing or breath freshening or anything like that. It's more like a rinse to add moisture to the mouth. It does coat your mouth and makes it feel moist (and weird), and it doesn't taste particularly good or bad. It's sweetened with Xylitol, which is a beneficial sugar alcohol that many dentists recommend to use daily in gum or mints. It's not clear that you would get any real benefit from the Xylitol in a rinse, but at least its not harmful like sugar. Overall, Biotene is okay but I wouldn't bother with it unless you need it specifically.

I had 40 years of great teeth and happy trips to the dentist's office. Right about the time that I turned 40, I started taking a new medication. I read the side effects but didn't think too much about it and went on with my life until I had a trip to the dentist about 6 months later. I had THREE cavities! I hadn't had a cavity in over 20 years!! What had happened?? My dentist diagnosed me with dry mouth due to the new medication and recommended Biotene Mouthwash. Wow, I'm glad that she did! I didn't even realize how dry my mouth had become until I started using the Biotene. After brushing, I put a swig of Biotene in my mouth and swish it around for approximately 30 seconds. I was nervous that it would be a very strong, minty mouthwash...typical of what you might expect in a mouthwash but that isn't the case with Biotene. It's a very pleasant, refreshing mint flavor. It has a bit of a thicker, fluid consistency too. While swishing it around, you can tell that it's working because I can already tell that the saliva is starting to come. When I'm done swishing, I spit it out and I'm left with a really pleasant taste in my mouth and it's so refreshing. My mouth is much more moist and it lasts too! I try to do it three times a day and the directions say that you can do it up to five times per day. It has kept me free of cavities again too and for that I am thankful!!

Following a series of heart operations during 1999 - 2000, I wash given an extensive medication regimen to follow. I was happy enough to still be on the right side of the grass so I didn't immediately associate the dry mouth I was experiencing to the medications I was taking. Following some extensive oral surgery last year my dental surgeon recommended that I start using Biotene products, specially intended for those experiencing dry mouth. **Biotene Mouthwash - My Take** I now make a habit of using Biotene as soon as I awake, lunchtime and shortly before going to sleep. I like its mild minty taste and the wetting and lubricating action it provides for my mouth. Biotene consists of: *Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Xylitol, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Poloxamer 407, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Benzoate, Flavor (Peppermint Oil), Benzoic Acid, Disodium Phosphate, Zinc Gluconate, Lactoferrin, Lysozyme, Lactoperoxidase, Potassium Thiocyanate, Aloe Vera Gel, Calcium Lactate, Glucose Oxidase* In addition to keeping my mouth moist, Biotene contains enzymes that mimic those found naturally in saliva that contribute to overall oral health. The wetting/lubricating action is due to the Propylene Glycol in the product. I find that it helps to keep my mouth fresh and moist for about 3 hours after use. I have to disagree with the former writer about the taste of this product. I have had dry mouth for years due to medication I take. I have tried all sorts of pastes, mouthwashes and gels but I have never been able to get past the taste. I recently had my first dental problem (I'm 48) and I am not wanting to go through that again so I looked for something that would keep my mouth from being dry at night and in the mornings and tried this product. I am reall impressed. It works well even with a bitegaurd and c-pap machine. I highly recommend this product.
