Biofreeze: Quick pain relief without pills
Biofreeze Pain Relieving Gel
My preferred forms of exercise are tennis and hiking. After weeks of below freezing temps, snow and ice, I just wasn't getting enough exercise so I headed to the dreaded exercise studio. I've been taking classes with names that include words like "strength" and "flexibilbity." I've used mats, exercise balls, half balls, bar weights, steps and hand weights. I'll admit I've enjoyed these classes more than I expected to but I am still anxious to find a dry tennis court and a moderate temperature day. The worst injury I've ever experienced in tennis was only to my pride but I am pretty sure that I injured myself in a class, probably one of those times when we were doing squats, standing on a balance ball, lifting a bar weight.
Lately I started experiencing pain on the inner side of my knee. Ouch. I really don't like to take pills for pain. I'd prefer a glass of wine over a Midol any day of the, umm, month. I believe in icing and heating pads but the problem with those is that you actualy have to sit still and I am a busy Mom. So I turned to Biofreeze, a pain relieving gel reccommended by my trusted friend and reviewer Lisa Carey .
From the package-
Helps relieve:
back & muscle pain
arthritis pain
shoulder & neck pain
joint & leg pain
sports injury pain
The active ingredient is ILEX, an herb extracted from Holly Shrubs that has been used by the Paraguay Indians.
My experience with Biofreeze Pain Relieving Gel:
The Biofreeze gel is blue and "thinner" than a gel toothpaste. It is applied topically. At first there was a very medicinal smell but it dissapated rather quickly. After I applied the Biofreeze I started to feel a cool tingling sensation. By the time I had washed my hands, the pain in my knee was gone. The tingling sensation became warm, not numbing or annoying. It lasted about 40 minutes. Even after the sensation wore off, the Biofreeze kept the pain away for almost 6 hours.
Biofreeze is made in the U.S.A.
**My Viewpoint: **Biofreeze is a bit messy to apply but it really does work to relieve pain and it works almost immediately. I'm hoping not to have to, but I would certainly use Biofreeze Pain Relieving Gel again. I like having this pill free option for pain relief.
