Bill O'Reilly - A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity: A Memoir —

A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity was a book that my parents gave the in-laws as a Christmas gift.

(Back Story)

My in-laws and my parents are ultimately the same people, just in different bodies. They share the same political views, religious beliefs, and basic everyday likes and dislikes. Ultimately though, had I not married my husband, they would have never met.

When my parents came to visit for Thanksgiving they got to have a longer visit with the people they were now related to, but haven't seen since the August wedding. It went beautifully. Dads talking shop, and moms planning a trip to the local winery. If you didn't know these people were in-laws, you'd swear they were long-time friends. So when Bill O'reilly's Factor came on t.v. the room fell silent. He was promoting his new book at the end of the show, and my parents just went on and on about how funny the book was, and how entertaining he was as well as insightful. The in-laws had made the comment about wanting the book, but just mentioned it in passing. A few days later my parents left and my mom told me to expect a package for Christmas and that the in-laws gift would be included.

My mom sent her autographed copy of Bold Fresh to share. The in-laws both read it before the New Year and passed it along to me. My mother-in-law refused to keep my mom's autographed copy. So under strict instruction, I was to return the book after I finished it.

My husband and I are going through a very rough time with us both being unemployed. I needed an escape. I picked up Bold Fresh and finished it within three days. I absolutely love this book! Bill O'reilly explains why he is the way he is, how he got to his position in life, and it has highly amusing anecdotes along the way. He speaks on a personal level that brings him out of the spotlight and transforms himself into that "folksy, down to earth, neighborly" kind of guy. When I finished the book, it made me feel better about my situation and gave me a sense of pride that had been lost many months ago. Some people may not like Bill O'reilly, and honestly, I used to be one of them, but things change. I haven't read any of his other novels, but they are now on the must-read list. This book is something that I put off until my mom just insisted I read it. He talks about the military, President Bush, and some about Obama (written before the election). He relates to his childhood and all the stunts the "Levittown" boys pulled over on the nuns. Reunions of the old gang in places all over the world. It's a fun read with some common sense thrown in for good measure.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something different. This man has had an interesting life that's worth reading about.

Sounds interesting. Bill O'Reilly has no issue saying what he thinks!
