I believe that you get what you pay for. However stores often take advantage of people who dont have a lot to pay with. Big lots is different. They believe in quality for less i think. I have bought numerous items from them over the years and have never been disappointed. I also bought a couch and love... review »

I love shopping at big lots you can really find some great stuff there .However if you decide to buy anything that requires electricity be sure and keep your receipt . I have bought a curling iron that did not work, a Pedestal fan that I had to return it worked for 1 hour--a paper shredder that did not...

Los Angeles has its ethnic enclaves and that can make Big Lots an interesting shopping venue.  When B.L. has trucked in chile beans and hot sauces, I'm likely to shop for them at the store near Glendale which is favored by Armenian-American clientele.  If hummus, Greek olives or similar "Eastern" items are available, you can find me in the Highland Park store where Spanish is the language of choice and Greek olives stay on the shelves a fair length of time.
I also calculate my buying patterns by management alone.  Suddenly one store gets messy and can't muster up enough checkers for lines...

When I go to Big lots, it's for one of two items...maybe both.  They carry stacks of blank CDs (50 count) usually from HP for $9.99!  That beats anybody, hands down.  They also carry blank CD cases (either slim line or full) for a couple of bucks.  I used to DJ at oldies parties & for crowds that wanted everything from the 50s to todays dance music.  I still make a few CDs for friends.  The rest of the electronics dept. you can keep.  Mostly junk.

Occasionally I find other things there I need, such as a fry pan at a good price.  In the Spring & Summer they carry Bar-B-Cue grills.  Once...

As a mom, I'm always trying ways to cut corners and have quality items without sacrificing in our budget. Big Lots is a great way to do this. Now, sometimes the isles can be pretty cluttered and it's not always easy to get around, but the prices of their products are well worth braving the overstocked store. Some locations can be dirty, but this all depends on the store staff's caring of the store. Our local store is lucky enough to have a staff that keeps it clean. It can be over cluttered sometimes, but it is clean. Depending on the city that the location is in, you can find gourmet food... review »

Overall Big Lots is a good store, but buyer beware.  The cosmetics, especially mascara, should be avoided.  They are usually well past their shelf life by the time Big Lots buys them.  Electronics and electric tools, never.  We bought a jigsaw as a Christmas gift and it worked 1 tome.  We took it back, the amnager replaced it and tht one never worked at all.  A total loss of 35 dollars.  We have purchased many food items that were expired.  Read the labels.  Some of the imported food items don't have expirtion dates at all.  Haven't had much luck with those either.  I also purchased... review »

Just a note to those of you who go to Big Lots, do not pass up the aisle with all the stationery supplies.  I have consistently found copy paper, and cardstock for making cards or scrapbooking at way cheap prices, and it isn't particularly what people think of when they think of Big Lots.  I have found some of the best office supply products and scrapbooking materials there that would be two to three times the price even of the usual discount stores.  So next time you are in, do yourself a favor and drop by the stationery area and check it out, I think you will find something "you can't live...

Recently we bought the stetson couch and chair with ottoman.  This is so comfortable and so far very durable...with 4 kids and a husband I need it to withstand A LOT.

I am very happy with my purchase and feel that besides  a good quality living room set I got a fantastic deal!

There are a lot of bargains under one roof. I have found many deals at Big lots. The only problem I have is that they are a close out store, so if you find something you like, you better buy it up in quantities, because it may not be there the next time!

I'm a bargain QUEEN.  I search for weeks for the best deals on any purchase over $25...yes, $25.  I'm cheap.  I like my money right where it belongs....collecting interest.

I live in a very shop savvy city..Hendersonville, TN.  We have 2 malls withing 10 minutes, Sears Outlests, boutique stores, specialty shops, thrift...One of my favorites is BIG LOTS!

I'm always looking ahead for birthdays, mother's day, you name it and I have it to shop for.  I have a LARGE extended family and we are all very close so that leaves a lot of gift giving to do.  I am also a stay at home mom with lots...

Every Big Lots store that I have ever been to has been disgusting. The floors are filthy, the merchandise is either on the floor or covered in dirt and thrown back onto the rack. The employees are only somewhat friendly, and not all that helpful.

I have only been to Big Lots a few times, but everytime I feel dirty just walking in the doors. The carts are grimy and greasy and sometimes full of trash. The store near me has one bathroom for both men and women. In the bathroom, there is only one toilet. There used to be two, but the second was pulled out for some reason, and now there is a hole in...

We recently went to Big lots to buy a mattress that they had advertised. Buy the mattress get the box springs for $10. Well off course they didn't have the size we were looking for in stock. They were very willing to order for us and said that they had a shipment coming in in two days. No problem. We paid for them and called back in two days. Well the manager told us that they should have said it could take up to two weeks and that they were really only a test store for this item. Wasn't thrilled with all of that. He did end up promising that they would have them in one week. Had it not been for... review »

Big lots is a bargain shoppers paradise. You can find great bargains on name brand merchandise if you are willing to look. You have to know your prices at other stores in order to find the best bargains. Recently I got a 3 pack of boys underwear for $2. It is similar to a resale store, in that you need to check frequently to see what new items they have received. They receive closeouts from name brand retailers & often have the merchandise that comes from stores that recently closed. The problem with Big Lots is that it is usually pretty messy. The staff seems to do a good job of having...

I recently took a trip to Big Lots with little cash, I found all the candle accesories I was looking for, along with a huge 70% off sale on some more, glamorous looking items.  On top of this, I found an amazing mouse with a usb hook up thats pink by general electrics for my laptop that works beautifully for $10. I ended up purchasing a COMPLETE cheetah print bed set for full/queen for $35. I know how this works, buy something extremely cheap, get crappy quality, surprisingly enough I went home, threw it on the bed, and It looks EXACTLY like the picture. Its soft and comfy very well made i'm very...

I have shopped at Big Lots several times.  I am always pleased with the variety of items that they offer.  I wouldn't recommend buying remote control cars there.  I purchased 4 remote control cars for my children and only 2 worked.  They were very cheaply made!  I love the nic-nacs and household items that they have.  Sometimes what may seem like a bargain there is actually higher than what you would pay for the same item elsewhere.  Big Lots is a great place to shop, just remember to closely examine the item and keep your receipt in case of it not working.
